Lately, I've been watching the movie Don't Look Up and the series Turning Point. I was wondering if I should write this, but hey, it's more important. 🌍 Earth 🌍 Nowadays, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by wars, constant political fights, and conflicts. But what if we took a step back and considered how our actions affect the world, the people, and the planet? The movie Don't Look Up shows us what happens when we ignore facts for political reasons. It’s a powerful reminder that ignoring the truth can lead to disaster. The movie uses humor to show how ridiculous it is to focus on short-term benefits instead of long-term survival. It reminds us that we need to wake up and take action. The series Turning Point tells a similar story. It shows how political decisions driven by fear and power during the Cold War brought the world close to disaster. This series is a serious reminder of how political agendas can get in the way of peace and safety, which we still see today. These stories highlight a key point: Politics often harms humanity. We need real people who care about life and living on Earth to speak up for a world where peace, truth, and well-being come first. Let’s be those real people. Let’s support policies that focus on sustainability, peace, and the good of everyone. We are living in an ever-changing Society and one facing increasingly complex issues intersecting with politics, social injustice, ecological harm, and economic system(s) which are no longer serving us and the life-systems we depend upon. It is critical to understand the effect (therein ‘the impact’) we have unto society and our natural systems: assessing its qualities and staying accountable to that which is positive and enduring. We sense-make our effect and intrinsic connectedness to that which is life-centred. #Solidarity "is the name that we give to the form of #politics that best describes a yearning towards #entanglement, to the mutual benefit of all parties, and sets itself against division and hierarchy. To declare solidarity with the more-than-human world means to acknowledge the radical differences that exist between ourselves and other beings, while insisting on the possibility of mutual aid, care, and growth. We share a world, and we can imagine better worlds, together. Solidarity is a product of #imagination as well as of #action, because a practice of #care for one another in the present consists in resisting the desire to plan, produce, and solve. Those are the imperatives of corporate and technological thinking, which bind us to oppositional world views and binary choices. Active, practical care resists certitude and conclusions. Rather, this kind of solidarity with the more-than-human world consists in #listening and working with, and mitigating, repairing, restoring and engendering new possibilities through #collaboration and #consensus. 'Go Deep or No Home?' is a new intervention by the wonderful crew at Inter-Narratives. It shows how many of the challenges that we are facing—climate breakdown, rising authoritarianism, systemic inequality—are driven by mental models known as deep narratives. It also describes how different groups are intentionally strengthening these for their benefit and to build support for their agendas. However, it also points to examples of how activists are around the world have been successfully challenging these deep narratives. Crucially, it describes an approach and the infrastructure needed to build such narratives and coordinate action across different sectors in the UK in a way that leads to transformative change. https://lnkd.in/eRU4afRS Especially at a moment like this, I desperately hope that this initiative will grow wings and take flight.
