Okay, CSLD hasn't posted in a while, so what's up with the pic of the large field? A lot, actually. The large field at our North Woods Challenge Course is finally getting a much-needed layer of mulch and our staff are excited. You see, once students graduate, we don't get the summers off. CSLD Coordinator Alison Jackson Frasier is usually on the course facilitating teambuilding for groups or focusing on maintenance. The work doesn't end! What else does CSLD do over the summer? 🌞 End-of-year reports/budget things, you know, the fun stuff 🌞 New Student Orientation: lots and lots of talking with new students and families/supporters 🌞 Still teaching: We're here for our LDR 417 Internship students 🌞 Still facilitating: We have several #CliftonStrengths workshops lined up for other departments' professional development needs in the coming months 🌞 Always planning: Things like Leadership Institute Peer Leader Training and the schedule for the full program ... reserving space for our fall Day of Leadership ... and making lists for "future us" (we'll get to fall class planning by August, for sure) 🌞 And yes, our staff take some time off as well, to rest and recharge. We wholeheartedly believe naps are productive. How's everyone's summer so far?

Our first Shared-Leadership Network kicked off with the topic of Keeping Students at the Center of Decision-Making. THIS IS WHAT WE LEARNED: Leaders who share decision-making responsibilities engage families and students in intentionally grounding each decision, big or small, in their co-created and identified shared purpose. Here are some examples ⬇️ ➡️ The team decided to have a late start because research shows teenagers need more sleep. ➡️ The team chose to have a minimum of two days per week to allow students to have after-school internships and teachers to have collaboration time. ➡️ The team decided to offer a self-directed, project-based learning program and allow students to earn credits for classes outside of their district’s scope and sequence. ➡️ The team decided to use technology to allow students to move at their own individual pace. ➡️ The team decided to offer credit outside of traditional classes, for example, PE credit when students track their steps, miles, and heart rate walking or riding bikes to school. As school leaders, the summer months provide a unique opportunity to reflect, plan, and set the stage for a successful school year. This time allows us to assess past achievements, align goals with our strategic vision, and prepare actionable steps to benefit our students and staff. Setting clear, actionable goals is essential for maintaining focus and ensuring our efforts align with our school’s mission and vision. Establishing SMART goals, informed by data and reflecting our students' needs, is crucial. However, effective goal setting requires collaboration and input from our entire school community. Engaging in discussions to review the previous year’s outcomes and identify growth areas ensures that our goals are grounded in a shared understanding of our strategic vision. Our strategic vision serves as the roadmap for all initiatives and decisions. Aligning our goals and strategies with this vision maximizes our chances of success. Reflecting on my experience as a high school and middle school principal, I understand the importance of providing access to diverse learning opportunities through our course schedule. Evaluating access and opportunities is critical for post-secondary success. Guiding questions to align vision, mission, and actions include: -Do prerequisites for accelerated courses increase or limit student access? -Are there internship, vocational, and college-level opportunities for students? -Does our schedule reflect the needs of students or adults? -How many students have a post-secondary plan compared to those in vocational and internship programs? As we navigate the summer and the start of the school year, let’s remain committed to our strategic vision and the goals we have set. Together, through thoughtful goal setting, collaborative planning, and strategic alignment, we can make the next school year the most successful one yet. #TeamCCIU #BuildingCCIUFutures #EducationLeadership #SchoolImprovement #StrategicPlanning

He excitingly said, "The most rewarding part has been witnessing my mentees thrive professionally. The School of the Future is here now. Have you ever wondered what education might look like without the constraints of traditional classrooms, schedules, and curricula? Hampstead Academy is a progressive private school in New Hampshire that has reimagined learning for grades 5-8 in our Upper School program. Through inquiry, self-directed projects, internships, and community partnerships, students develop knowledge and skills that translate into real-world problem solving. They progress at a reasonable pace, with deadlines that coincide with meaningful connections instead of rigid structures. By the time they graduate, students have a portfolio of work demonstrating a mastery of core subjects as well as experience applying concepts to real-world challenges. Hampstead Academy is preparing students with the compassion, creativity, and critical thinking skills to become the necessary community leaders of tomorrow. The IMPACT learning model enables students to develop into compassionate and creative critical thinkers, problem solvers, and leaders. My number one piece of advice to fellow students is this: 👉 Do not let yourself settle within the embrace of comfort- Instead, push yourself to be uncomfortable. While the idea of facing potential rejection is terrifying, you'll discover it forges a path to both growth and unexpected opportunities. As a student, it can be incredibly hard to believe what you bring to the table is enough… let alone valuable. While us students have a short amount of experience to offer, I believe we have the unique ability to bring a fresh perspective. Last September, I stepped into the role of Marketing Intern for the College of Business and Leadership (CBL) at Eastern University. Being one of the first interns, alongside Kayla Bardonner, I was trusted with an array of responsibilities to support the colleges upcoming rebrand. Through this experience, my professional confidence has strengthened and a collection of valuable skills have been added to my portfolio. Each day, I am thankful for the small amount of courage I found within myself to apply for this amazing opportunity. To my fellow college students: Do not shy away from allowing others to vividly see and experience your personal and professional capabilities. Whether you are a first-year or an upcoming graduate be confident in what YOU bring to the table and opportunity will certainly follow. Thanks Eastern University College of Business and Leadership for the shoutout on Instagram!!! #studentdevelopment #studentinternship #internshipexperience #studentexperience #collegestudent #businessstudents #businessgrowth
