The Swedish Armed Forces are currently undertaking a significant upgrade to their entire fleet of Helicopter 16 (Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawk) helicopters, aiming to increase their operational range by 50%. This enhancement involves the installation of an additional fuel tank, which can be mounted in the cabin when required. The modification process, which began in autumn 2023, is being conducted in Sweden by personnel from the US Army and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
The new fuel tank, with a capacity of approximately 750 litres, extends the helicopters’ flight time substantially, providing greater operational flexibility. This upgrade is particularly valuable in expansive operational theatres, such as Mali, where Swedish forces utilised a similar system during their international mission, which concluded in 2022.

🇵🇱🚁🧑🔧 Leonardo has opened a production line for the Polish Armed Forces’ AW149 helicopters in Świdnik, southeastern Poland.
The facility was launched through the company’s Polish subsidiary, PZL-Świdnik, which will oversee the production of 32 helicopters onsite.
“Along with the production of the AW149, we start new era for Świdnik plants – this was clear to me from very beginning when I was appointed CEO of PZL-Świdnik – we have needed a new most modern helicopter production line to develop our expertise, which must come with state-of-the-art technology transfer," PZL-Świdnik President Jacek Libucha said.
"This also meets the Armed Forces’ high-end needs and those helicopters will provide them the best-in-class combat support. This is what the platform has been designed for.”

🔺 Best real-life #topgun video you will see today! 💥 F-16 climbing from 0 to 15,000 feet in just 20 seconds...🚀
On January 20, 1974, history was made in the skies. While conducting a high-speed taxi test, test pilot Phil Oestricher experienced an unexpected liftoff in an YF-16, the prototype of a revolutionary fighter jet, the F-16. It rose to prominence with its unmatched maneuverability, agility, and impressive performance.
Its exceptional capabilities earned it a reputation as a true #dogfighter earning it the nickname "Viper".
Today, you should this video from my friend Murat ÖZPALA on a F-16 climbing from 0 to 15,000 feet in just 20 seconds.
The video captures the F-16 BM Block 15, belonging to the 11th Squadron "Arrows" of the Pakistan Air Force, as it effortlessly ascends from a stationary position to the dizzying heights of 15,000 feet in only 45 sec. The sheer acceleration and agility of this aerial beast are truly mesmerizing, leaving you in awe!
Make sure your seatbelts are fastened before playing it! 😎
What a beauty and power.
Hats Off! 💥

How can civilian technology be utilised for military programmes?
Rolls-Royce Deutschland shows us how.
At yesterday's national #FCASSummit 2023 in Berlin, Head of Defence for Future Programmes Germany Rene Bernstein presented a national power and propulsion concept - the Advance2 core - for unmanned combat systems as part of the Next Generation Weapon System.
Combining exceptional design with advanced proven technology, the Advance2 core is the most powerful and efficient core engine technology in its class.
A state-of-the-art solution for heavy remote carriers known as Wingman, the Advance2 core engine can be viewed as the backbone of future advanced propulsion systems of future larger-class uncrewed weapon systems.
Rene Bernstein discusses this world-class solution in more detail and the need for Germany to implement this approach to strengthen defence capabilities: https://ow.ly/OLu350QgIWT#innovation#Rolls-Royce #technology#defence
