Unconfirmed reports coming out across various social media platforms, of China’s advanced SAM capability, that if true, might significantly change current Western ORBATS. China’s North Western Polytechnic University’s engineering hub, one of the so-called ‘Seven sons of National Defence’, has purportedly created and built a SAM ability with targetting capabilities of over 2000kms. Again, if true, not good news for current known AWACS etc manoueverabilities. Wonder if this is also somehow related to the kerosene powered engine work also being done?

What do you know about space propulsion systems? Historically, hydrazine-based propulsion systems have been at the forefront of technology for various applications, such as launchers and satellites of all sizes. These systems boast a long and distinguished history, along with a broad array of space-qualified, off-the-shelf components. However, hydrazine is a toxic, carcinogenic, and mutagenic monopropellant, while MMH (Monomethylhydrazine) and UDMH (Unsymmetric Dimethylhydrazine) are similarly hazardous bipropellants. Special precautions are necessary during both the field and operational phases when using hydrazine or its derivatives. Since hydrazine was classified as a substance of very high concern under the REACh legislation in 2011, there is a potential for future bans on these systems… But we can propose you an alternative! The chemical compound hydrogen peroxide, with the formula H₂O₂, is a colorless liquid that is slightly more viscous than water in its pure form. It serves as a powerful oxidizer and is commonly used for bleaching, disinfection, and as a rocket propellant! I'm looking forward to seeing my #spaceindustry friends at Defense Strategies Institute 10th annual Space Resiliency Summit. I will be attending for Neutron Star Systems DE GmbH (NSS) who is developing a groundbreaking high-temperature superconductor-based magnetoplasmadynamic propulsion system with high specific impulse and unmatched thrust. They have received awards and contracts of €2M+ in Europe from the likes of ESA and EIC and recently $250k+ in the USA as part of a Phase I for AFRL for Space Force use cases. The first configurations are for 5kw and 20kw thrusters. It is also uniquely propellant agnostic. This includes those fuels that are more environmentally friendly, cheaper, or with less supply chain risks.
