For my parents' generation, being an accomplished adult meant having a stable job, a family with children, and owning your own home. That's no longer the case for people my age or younger, who hop from job to job, from country to country, and from expensive rental to (more) expensive rental. Or still live with our parents, because, you know, cost-of-living crisis. The cost of housing has grown rapidly in the past decade but wages have struggled to keep up. This means that depending on where you live, if you're in your late 20s or early 30s and are dreaming of buying a flat, you still have a long way to go before being able to afford it. Or have generational wealth, because, you know, privilege. Data found on Investigate Europe; story on POLITICO Europe: https://bit.ly/3Tl0SBK

We can't have everything we want. Dramatic population growth, poor asset management, rising community expectations, ambitious legislation and policy are just some of the reasons we are so far behind in delivering the infrastructure and services we would like. The price-tag excludes any chance of us having everything we want. So how do we prioritise well to get the best community outcomes, especially as central or local government when we're using other people's money? This is what I'll be workshopping with local government leaders on Thursday at the #LGNZ conference. If you're attending the conference, make sure you pop along to our workshop at 3pm on Thursday 22 Aug. #Economics #TradeOffs #Infrastructure #Community #OutcomesNotOutputs #CostCertainty #AlternativeFunding #DeliveryCertainty #OptimismBias #LGNZ #LocalGovernment

Social Entrepreneur | Founder & CEO Commonlands | Revolutionizing Credit Delivery, Restoring Trust & Empowering Billions Worldwide with Decentralized Technology
Economic inclusion is often held back by policies that overlook the realities of underserved communities. I’ve seen how land tenure laws and outdated credit systems can keep rural populations from accessing essential financial services. So what’s one change that could make a huge difference?👇 It’s a policy that recognizes community-verified land claims as collateral for loans. This shift would allow millions to access credit where traditional systems have failed them. At Commonlands, we've been actively collaborating with policymakers to push for these changes. What policy changes do you think are most crucial for driving true economic inclusion? #economicinclusion #policychange #underservedcommunities #financialinclusion

🔎 📝 Take a look at our latest Impact Insights Blog from Cindy Holler and Elizabeth Vivirito who explore why housing affordability is a priority for #impactinvesting: "When families don’t have access to safe, conveniently-located, and affordable housing, it can disrupt their entire financial well-being. Children experience academic disruption; families struggle to save and invest in their future; and jobs become harder to obtain and hold down." https://lnkd.in/e2iSaF4W
