going through the comments for the below mentioned post, you will see lots of frustration. By having experience in the steel industry I want to share my opinion on this kind of situation. 1. specific to the purchase and position where one can influence the purchase decision - owners/higher management have firm beleive the person going to have money from the supplier and contractors. so they don't want to invest more on salary. This is what I noticed in the eastern world. for Japan I do not have an idea but from china to ex USSR countries , and from India to turkey this is true . In Europe they have their own style for corruption. so this one side of the table. 2. So from an employee point of view. we have at least two types of people. first those are perfectly fit for the above mentioned understanding. they took the job at any cost and are now ready to make money from suppliers and contractors. so both happy employees and employers. And looking at each other with the eye of doubt. 2nd. those are honest (though difficult to find) They have their own problem of honesty. They fully depend on salary and it's not management foul. management never demands integrity in the job description. so if you have this misleading qualification this is your problem. two solutions theory!!! 1. bend your back bone , mold yourself to the market and enjoy. no one will touch you, even other will support you. Because others will also get their own cut. 2.make lollypop of your honesty and integrity and you already know what to do with this. no need to be frustrated. you have chosen this path. alternative path ! take a job at any cost , means lower salary. reduce your expectations from life. help others to do corruption by your silence. just you will be in danger in case of crises first you will be removed 😆. because you are not in anyone's team. from work load point of view you will be always overload. other pears will make sure that you will not be able lift your head from the desk. And never forget unemployment makes people desperate ! nothing personal just professional!
