⭐ Day 35/100 ⭐ This week's news brought a somber reminder: an airman tragically took his own life. Beyond politics, the issue of suicide remains a profound concern within the military community. In a sobering 2022 study conducted by Veterans Affairs, the statistics are stark: an average of 16.8 veteran suicides occur each day. Similarly, in 2021 alone, 30,177 military personnel lost their lives to suicide. Why does this matter? Because mental health is paramount. This is especially true in the military, where rates of suicide are disproportionately higher compared to non-veterans. While numerous programs have been implemented and there's a growing emphasis on mental health, it requires collective effort to ensure veterans receive the support they deserve. As an employer, what can you do? Take the time to truly know your employees, including veterans. Go beyond the surface of a mere manager-employee relationship. Be proactive in recognizing warning signs and offering support. Lets continue to reverse this trend together. For veterans in distress, or those aware of someone who is struggling, the Veterans Crisis Line stands ready to help. Call 988 or visit the link: https://lnkd.in/gAFWT8AV. Your outreach could save a life.

Coach at Just4Veterans | USMC Veteran | Empowering veterans to secure the benefits they earned through dedicated support.
Arthritis affects over one-third of veterans in the U.S., with more than 35% of former military personnel experiencing this condition. It is especially common in older veterans, men, and those who are significantly overweight. Arthritis can develop due to trauma or overuse during active duty. Fortunately, the VA offers disability benefits based on the type and severity of the condition. Additionally, there are various affordable or free physical activity programs and workshops designed to help veterans manage their arthritis and improve their quality of life. If your arthritis is connected to your service, you may be eligible to file a claim and receive compensation. Let me help you navigate the claims process. Service men and Women leaving Military Service Leaving the armed forces in Australia can be a significant transition for veterans, encompassing various challenges and experiences. Many veterans report feelings of loss related to their military identity and camaraderie with fellow service members. The adjustment to civilian life often involves navigating employment opportunities, accessing healthcare, and dealing with mental health issues such as PTSD. Support systems, including veteran organizations and government services, play a role in aiding this transition. Some veterans find it beneficial to connect with peer support groups to share experiences and advice. However, others may struggle with the bureaucratic processes to access the benefits they are entitled to, which can lead to frustration. intunemindset@gmail.com 0457264147

Veteran Disability Advocate/CEO-Anchored4Vets, LLC/Military Spouse/ "Success happens when you make a positive impact in the lives of others."
Veterans, if you were diagnosed for a condition during active duty, but denied a service connection today. It's likely you didn't show a clear continuity of care, treatment or symptoms since discharge. Helpful evidence you may consider submitting to show continuity, and that the claimed condition was still an issue since you got out, would be that of a Lay statement from spouse, family, friends or co-worker's. #veteransdisability #disabilitybenefits #disabilityrating #disabilityclaims #veteransuport #military #veterans #anchored4vets

Retired Military Special Needs Dad || I help military special needs families by highlighting quality of life issues
I honestly am tired of surveys. However, some surveys do provide useful information for leadership to action. The active duty and reserve Status of Forces Survey are available for public comment through the Federal Register. https://lnkd.in/gRPnQZ74 https://lnkd.in/gJMfGstp For the #military #specialneeds community, I had previously thought of the idea of including either #EFMP or SNP enrollment as a demographic question after listening to the last Military Family Readiness Council. #Militaryfamilies with dependents requiring special medical, mental, or educational supports need data to compare some of the #qualityoflife concerns that may impact our community more acutely. I encourage anyone that pays attention to the #exceptionalneeds community to provide comment asking for inclusion of this demographic question on the next survey. Come learn how the design of facilities can do its part to help improve the mental health of our soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen, and space personnel. The Department of Defense is facing a mental health crisis. Suicide rates among active-duty military members are currently at an all-time high since record-keeping began after 9/11 and have been increasing over the past five years at an alarmingly steady pace. In fact, some branches of the Armed Forces are experiencing the highest rate of suicides since before World War II. In 2021, research found that 30,177 active duty personnel and veterans who served in the military after 9/11 have died by suicide – compared to the 7,057 service members killed in combat in those same 20 years. That is, military suicide rates are four times higher than deaths that occurred during military operations.
