Taking the boat out for a little spin. Sailors aboard USS Ralph Johnson (DDG 114) conduct small boat operations in the Sea of Japan. Ralph Johnson is forward deployed and assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest DESRON and the U.S. 7th fleet’s principal surface force.
Haze Grey and not underway AND also to touch up the paint at the waterline!! GO Navy wherever and keep them looking good!! GO Navy and stay safe while over the side!!

Here's a rare and impressive feat in naval aviation: an arresting gear landing during underway replenishment! This remarkable event requires exceptional skill, coordination, and focus from both the aircraft pilot and the ship's crew.
Underway Replenishment (UNREP) is a complex operation where a replenishment oiler transfers fuel, ammunition, and supplies to a warship while both vessels are in motion. It demands precise planning, coordination, and execution to ensure safety and efficiency.
An arrested landing is a critical phase of aircraft carrier operations where the aircraft engages the arresting gear to rapidly decelerate and come to a stop on the flight deck. This requires precise control, timing, and trust in the arresting gear system.
Combining these two operations is a rare occurrence due to the challenges involved. The pilot must navigate through a dynamic environment with obstacles like hoses, lines, and personnel on deck while aligning with the arresting gear. Safety is the top priority, and the ship's crew must ensure a clear landing area while the pilot adjusts to the changing environment.
Logistical challenges also come into play, as UNREP operations involve multiple vessels, aircraft, and personnel. Finding a suitable window for an arrested landing requires careful planning and coordination.
The successful execution of an arresting gear landing during underway replenishment is a testament to the skill, training, and teamwork of naval aviators and crew members. It's a rare and impressive feat that showcases the capabilities of naval aviation! #navalaviation#aircraftcarrier#underwayreplenishment#arrestinggearlanding

Thailand ‘Sacrifices’ Submarine For Chinese Patrol Boats; Argentina Dumps Chinese Jets For F-16s
In a highly ironic turn of events, two states seeking state-of-the-art platforms for their armed forces have chosen to accept far less. While Thailand may opt for patrol boats instead of Chinese submarines, Argentina is acquiring used warplanes instead of brand-new Chinese jets. A Thai navy source has revealed that the Chinese government has, in principle, agreed to supply one
Intriguing article in the Saturday Washington Post on the 3rd Marine Littoral Regiment which reflects the Corps latest concept for fighting adversaries (i..e. China) from remote strategic islands in the Western Pacific. These units are designed to be smaller, lighter and more mobile - and their leaders argue more lethal. Certainly one of the challenges will be transportation (no more tanks in the USMC) and the challenge of maintaining air superiority so the units can retain a viable supply chain for logistical support. Overall, some interesting food for thought.
The German Navy has placed significant trust in its F125 frigates, following the Baden-Württemberg’s successful deployment in the Indo-Pacific.
Despite earlier technical issues, these advanced frigates proved their resilience in warmer climates during a six-month mission, with no major system failures.
The ships were initially intended for North Atlantic operations, but as Chen Chuanren reported, the deployment marked a pivotal step for Germany’s growing maritime presence beyond Europe. Read more on the operation below.

Operation Prosperity Guardian - Wikipedia
https://lnkd.in/exRSYZ2y
Operation Prosperity Guardian is a United States-led military operation by a multinational coalition formed in December 2023 to respond to Houthi-led attacks on shipping in the Red Sea. Following the breakout of the ongoing Israel–Hamas war in October 2023, the Houthi movement in Yemen blockaded Israel.
Following the breakout of the ongoing Israel–Hamas war in October 2023, the Houthi movement in Yemen blockaded Israel in the Red Sea and launched a series of attacks against commercial vessels heading or related to Israel.[7][8] On 18 December 2023, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced the formation of an international maritime security force aimed at ending the blockade[9] and countering threats by Houthi forces against international maritime commerce in the region.[10]
The coalition currently has more than 20 members, of which ten are anonymously involved.[11][12] Egypt and Saudi Arabia, both economically reliant on unhindered commercial shipping in the area, are absent from the listed participants.[13] France, Italy and Spain have also declined to participate.[14] The chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, Usama Rabia, claimed that "navigation traffic in the Suez Canal was not affected by what is happening in the Red Sea".[15] Nevertheless, on 10 January, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) adopted a resolution demanding a cessation of Houthi attacks on merchant vessels.

How War Begins: How USS Bataan, USS Mesa Verde, USS Carter Are Ready to Destroy Houthi Ships in Red Sea?
The USS Bataan is a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship. It is designed to support Marine Corps aviation, capable of carrying helicopters, MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft, and Harrier II aircraft. The ship can serve as a hub for various expeditionary forces.
The USS Mesa Verde is a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock. It is designed to transport and deploy U.S. Marine Corps expeditionary forces with their equipment and vehicles. The ship has facilities for both air and surface amphibious operations.

Tom Sharpe, The Telegraph:
"Putin’s war in Ukraine, although existential to Ukrainians, will be seen through Xi’s lens as a useful drain on Western resources. The encircling of Taiwan shows ever-improving military cohesion which in turn increases the demand signal to the US and others to consider ‘what if?’
On the back of this, China’s military build-up continues at a remarkable pace. China is currently building the equivalent of the entire Royal Navy every two years. It was recently reported in these pages that they have built the first of a new class of stealth corvette in under a year. The US Navy’s equivalent, the Littoral Combat Ship, took four years (and is so useless that some are being paid off after only five years at sea). America’s new frigate, although bigger and more complex (assumption), will take seven years from laying down to sea trials. The Royal Navy’s equivalent, the Type 26 Frigate, about five (that is from keel being laid to trials. The timeline from ‘concept’ to ‘operational’ is much longer). Our industrial capacity to build ships is being outstripped by a factor of five.

As the People’s Liberation Army Navy (#PLAN) increasingly deploys its #submarine force beyond the near seas on long-distance combat #readiness and #training missions, studying the force’s human components benefits a broader understanding its overall effectiveness."
