What makes a good culture? Caring for your people. Here are just a few of the ways I’ve seen VAUSA® care for their people: - Ordered a Starbucks drink to be delivered to an assistant when she was not feeling well. - Sent board games to an assistant so her kids had something new to play with while their dad was deployed. - Send care package to assistants when they are sick. - Sent flowers to someone who was juggling a multi-part OCONUS PCS. - Sent flowers to someone on the anniversary of a loved one’s passing because they knew that date would be a little heavier. These were all surprises to the recipients. None of the recipients were expecting any of this and none had asked for anything. This is only a mere 5 of the stories I have heard about, not counting the ones I haven’t heard of. This is how you create a caring culture. This is how you create a culture that people WANT to be part of, where people say “I’m never leaving this company” with an ear-to-ear smile. #culture #caring #carepackages #virtualassistant

The sun is shining and I am back in business after my 2nd maternity leave - this time with baby Ellen. I believe that most women can relate to the fear of being forgotten at work while taking care of kids at home. I have done following to stay in touch: ✔️ Visit the office both with and without Ellen a couple of times ✔️ Tried to join team events ✔️ Being updated on what’s happening within DSV and the transport market in general ✔️ Most important have I been in very close dialogue with my manager Craig Van wyk on what to expect from each other on both long and short term. Short term: Where our family will have to adjust to a new daily routine. Long term: What kind of projects do I find inspiring, what are my ambitions, how to succeed on those ambitions and how to stay motivated once returning. It feels good to know what to expect once I am entering the doors at DSV - Global Transport and Logistics I am highly motivated, ready to get my hands on my next project and eager to get started🤝 #DSV #projectmanagement

Talent Acquisition strategy leader with a passion for DEI, leadership coaching, and workforce strategy innovation.
As I reflect on over eight months at Kaiser as a returning employee, I wanted to share my journey. Initially, I hesitated due to some lingering PTSD from my experiences at previous companies. Announcing a new job, meeting new coworkers, and embracing new experiences is always exciting, especially when you reach milestones that make you look forward to what’s next. However, I must acknowledge that many of my former colleagues have faced job loss after only a few months. With this in mind, I’d like to focus not on my tenure or past experiences but on how I’ve grown as a professional this past year. Returning to Kaiser, I anticipated some nostalgia and excitement about reuniting with old colleagues and the security of being in familiar territory. My career has largely been in corporate functions/G&A, but now, I find myself in the nurse leadership space. While I had some exposure to this area in the past, I didn’t have direct experience with those I had to lead, which presented a new challenge for me. Previously, although I understood our mission, I wasn’t deeply connected to it. My focus was on recruiting roles that ensured we could collect payments from members and provide resources for our employees. Now, I see that patient care is at the core of what I do. It’s crucial to hire the best people to support our employees, our members, and my own family. These past eight months have been filled with new experiences. I’ve found comfort in my teammates, the team I lead, and the leaders I partner with. This environment has taught me to channel my 20 years of experience to ensure we’re doing our best for the people who rely on us. Unlike my previous posts, this one isn’t about the impact I’m making but rather what I’m learning and appreciating on this journey as a talent acquisition leader. It’s not always about the bottom line or the projects; sometimes, the simplicity lies in what you’re doing for the people you serve. Whether it’s your team or your community, it’s vital to feel connected to something you’re passionate about. For me, I’ve found a new passion in patient care. #kaiserpermanente #patientcarejobs #nurseleadership

I have hired numerous team members in my career. But somehow I have always had a very good experience with immediate joiners. (not ones who don't serve their notice period kinds) Rather people who are on a break due to some reason. It could be maternity leave, sabbatical, family need or just plain quit-in-a-huff types. They always seem to have a fire that outshines others. Like they want to prove a point. A hunger for achieving something. The organization gains by way of an employee joining immediately. The employee is grateful for a quick break. Win-win for both sides.

3 years older, and somewhat wiser... It's my 3 year anniversary with Randstad UK! And what a rollercoaster it has been so far 🎢 Joining a new role in the height of the pandemic was bizarre to say the least. Learning a completely new set of skills and trying to get the Tech desk in Ireland up and running whilst working from home was... interesting. I wouldn't change it for the world. It gave me another level of understanding of how genuinely difficult it can be to work in recruitment and how rewarding it is when you finally place the perfect candidate in THE role! Of course, there was a huge shift in the market post-covid which made Tech sort of crumble for a while. So, going through the highs and lows of recruitment within the space of a year really showed me that nothing is guaranteed, and you have to work your ass off in this industry (and gave me thicker skin). In 2024, the future is looking bright! The market is expanding, and there is definitely good things coming down the line. The team in Randstad Ireland is something special, and I am so lucky to be working alongside such hard working, dedicated people who will also listen to me talking about Harry Styles for hours on end. Sam Snook Tom Eaton Nadine Byrne McNeela Claire Lynch Gemma Ryan Philip Cullen Josie O'Connor Cathal Keaveney Conor Dole Jack Liston - I couldn't do it without yous! Here's to Year Four! And if you're a candidate or hiring manager who is looking for tech roles/ tech candidates - please do reach out for a confidential conversation.

💙 Chief Marketing Officer at Zappi | 🏅Top 50 CMO on LinkedIn | 🌏 Harvard Business Review Contributor | 📘 Latest Book: Take Your Company Global | 👉 Get My Newsletter: Making Global Work
A little over a month ago, I joined Zappi. Before I even finished my first day of onboarding, I received two gifts that made my heart sing: 🎁 When I clicked on the company holiday calendar, I noticed that once a quarter, it listed a pre-scheduled, companywide mental health day off. I actually couldn't believe it was real at first. And I felt so grateful. 🎁 When reading our Diversity & Inclusivity Manifesto, on top of the more common topics covered, I noticed that it mentioned things I had always considered important parts of belonging, but had never seen any company talk about before, such as "friendship groups" and "personality traits" and even "political views." I have seen soooo many people excluded from things like internal mobility and opportunities for these very reasons throughout my career, leading to isolation, the opposite of belonging. Seeing a company going the extra mile to call these out explicitly was powerful for me. (It also covered the ideas that informed our thinking, and linked to talks from John Amaechi on Privilege, Kimberlé Crenshaw on Intersectionality, and Poloma Medina on Equity, all of whom are illuminating people with important ideas.) All companies have more work to do in these areas, but seeing these two things made me really proud to be a new joiner at Zappi.

Yeah, it's true that years of experience do not necessarily equate to quality experience. While years of experience look into the length of time you have spent working in a specific role. The quality of experience on the other hands look into the depth, breadth and effectiveness of skills, knowledge and insights gained during the years of experience. Someone with fewer years of experience may have acquired valuable skills and insights through diverse and impactful experiences. Hence, not how long but how far! Check your CV... Do you have years of experience or quality of experience. #careeradvice #professionaldevelopment
