Conference Season It’s that time of year again when conference season is in full swing. It’s always fun to meet the familiar faces on the road and reaffirm friendships. Excited to share the stage with my close friend and colleague David Hawley, PhD. and Rachel Porter as our Moderator. The traditional approach of applying light from above, and more is better, is being CHALLENGED! It is time to recalibrate our approach to lighting design for Cannabis Cultivation especially in a world with increasing energy costs and with plenty of growers having limited electrical capacities to start. What if I told you, you could increase your total yield by 30% while increasing both your premium to small flower ratio and your flower to trim ratio per square foot at the same time by just redistributing your current energy usage/lighting. Would you believe me? If this were true you would not only increase your yield but the value of that yield per square foot ($$/ft2) while simultaneously diluting your cost/lb, and in the right system with no additional labor/other direct costs incurred. Thus your production efficiency taking an aggressive pivot! The data is clear and I am excited to collaborate with David to continue to drive this home! What we discuss could be the linchpin for some growers - staying in business or failing.
