For the past 31 years, I've made the same mistake: moving too fast. A relentless pace has led to injuries such as jumping out of my crib and breaking my leg, rushed decisions in business, or getting frustrated quickly personally, and more. I always see my goals so clearly, but I often struggle to slow down and pace myself. Doesn’t everyone wish they could snap their fingers and see results? Here's the irony: When I move slowly, things flow. My best ideas emerge, and I feel in control. But when I rush, everything feels chaotic and out of control, which is unhealthy and unsustainable. This realization has taught me the critical importance of having good guardrails—people who can help me pace myself and keep me grounded. Surrounding myself with a team that supports my vision while reminding me to slow down has been essential for trying to maintain some semblance of balance. Life isn't a race; it's a marathon — a lesson I continue to learn. And to run it well, we need to find our pace, stay focused, and rely on those who can help us maintain our course.
