I'm a passionate about growth and innovation, believing brilliant ideas transcend colour, nationality, and circumstance. I've consistently supported international talent to drive the UK's success across all industries. The UK's shortage occupation list grows yearly, highlighting our urgent need for skilled individuals. On #WorldRefugeeDay, MAK25 London recognises and honors the untapped talents among asylum seekers arriving on our shores. The World Economic Forum reports 110 million displaced people live without full working rights. Connecting them with Europe's labour market gaps benefits everyone, as shown by the Refugee Employment Alliance hiring 54,000 refugees in 2022-2024. Through compassionate immigration policies, we can harness refugee talent to turbocharge innovation and growth. As the saying goes, "What if the cure for cancer lies in the mind of someone lacking education access?" The next refugee could be a parent of the future Steve Jobs, an Einstein in the making , or even the next Rita Ora! 🌍 On this World Refugee Day, we must reflect deeply on our global efforts to support those forced to flee their homes. This day is a reminder of the incredible resilience of refugees and the extensive work still needed to ensure they receive the protection and support they rightfully deserve. 🛑 Recent conflicts in Europe, Africa and the Middle East have exposed a stark reality: the unequal treatment of refugees. It's alarming to see how some companies and governments, who publicly champion inclusivity, demonstrate selective empathy in practice. This hypocrisy is akin to “greenwashing” but in the realm of human rights and refugee support. 🤝 As we celebrate the progress made by some, we cannot ignore the vast disparities in how different refugee groups are treated. Actions must align with words. We must challenge these hollow promises and advocate for a world where all refugees, regardless of their origin, are treated with dignity and respect. 📢 Let’s use our voices and platforms to demand genuine, equitable support for all refugees. This is a great way to solve the global skills shortages and, at the same time, come up with a workable solution to enable international students who have paid a lot of money to complete a University qualification to commence work. They cannot commence work because they do not hold permanent residency and lack experience in the area where they have just spent 2 to 4 years successfully completing their university studies. What does that say about the university qualification? They have to pay hefty fees to complete it. #aamctraining #educationwithoutborders

As numbers reach record highs, we must adopt a comprehensive approach to address the complex reasons behind migration today. While media headlines often highlight conflict, it's crucial to recognise that most migration is regular, safe, and connected to work. Factors like climate change, political instability, and economic disparities are driving many to seek livelihoods elsewhere. In fact, climate change now causes more displacements annually than a conflict (a shocking fact). 🌱 Well-managed migration can address several global challenges. Regions like Eastern Africa are embracing frameworks that intertwine trade and migration, leading to inclusive economic growth. Meanwhile, 90% of the world's youth live in developing countries with stark employment challenges. 📈 Expanding regular pathways for migration can enhance public confidence, alleviate pressure on asylum systems, and better align migrant skills with labor market needs.
