Medical history in the making! Recently, Aaron James, became the first person to receive a whole-eye and face transplant. While regenerating the optic nerve is still a hurdle and Mr. James’ vision was not restored, the procedure marks a groundbreaking step toward future innovations. Surgeons at NYU Langone Health pushed the boundaries of medicine with this 21-hour operation, showcasing remarkable innovations, such as 3D-printed surgical guides and precise blood vessel connections.
