#WWE #Files #Trademark #For #Potential #New #Show It looks as though WWE will begin a new series at some point down the line, as a new trademark has been filed with the description implying that it will be for a new show. The name of said show may very well be “WWE Vault”. The description for the trademark is as follows: “Mark For: WWE VAULT trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information.” In the past, WWE ran a small show called “From The Vault”, which would showcase old matches. In the UK, this would run in between programmes on SKY, filling up time and showing small clips. It isn’t known what this new show potential will entail though. https://lnkd.in/eSw_FUCp CULTAHOLIC - May 19, 2024

A 10-year deal between Netflix and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) was announced this week, with the streaming giant securing rights to broadcast ‘Raw’, the WWE’s flagship weekly program from January 2025. Netflix have famously said “We aren’t anti sport, we’re just pro-profit” so their first rights-backed live sport play being in Pro Wrestling makes total sense. The massive fan base of the sports-entertainment platform have been programmed to pay for their passion from the day its first Pay Per View (PPV) event hit screens (and wallets) in 1985. Having failed to secure rights deals with tennis, surfing and Formula 1 over the years, this $5b commitment to the Endeavor Group owned promoter TKO Holdings signals they are well and truly past ‘dipping a toe in the waters’ in live sport. After the WWE finishes its current US-based deal for Raw with NBCUniversal, the show will head to Netflix for viewers in the US, Canada, UK, Latin America, and other territories (including Australia). Netflix can extend the deal for another ten years and opt-out after five years. Outside of the US, Netflix is also picking up, starting in 2025, the rest of the WWE’s shows and live events, including SmackDown, NXT, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Royal Rumble, plus other non-live offerings like documentaries and original series. Bela Bajaria, Chief Content Officer at Netflix, said “We are excited to have WWE Raw, with its huge and passionate multigenerational fan base, on Netflix. By combining our reach, recommendations, and fandom with WWE, we’ll be able to deliver more joy and value for their audiences and our members.” Sign up to the Gemba 3Peat newsletter to keep up-to-date with all things sport and entertainment.
