Here are some tips from a USAA recruiter if you want to be a part of the elite team who take care of our military and their families #USAAEmployee

Understand the role you are interviewing for and If you don't ask the recruiter or the company to explain it in detail. Know what you are walking into before you get there.

Here's some perspective when it comes to the passage of time: "For the candidate who is looking, who is actively interviewing/waiting for a response, each day that passes feels like two weeks; for the Hiring Authority, two weeks fly by like a day." - A wise VP-of-Sales-turned-Candidate from my past.

We all know that references are an essential part of the hiring process. You take them to gain a bit of confidence in your decision to hire someone and to uncover any potential red flags before finalizing the deal. Do you know that candidates are simultaneously taking a reference on you as well? Perhaps not in the formal sense, but they are doing their due diligence as well. They're asking what it's like to deal with you. They're asking their mates, your previous employees, your customers, other people who have interviewed with you, and anyone who can shed some light on you...... What do you think they'll be told?

Two of my clients have lost out this week…BIG time! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… ➡️ Good candidates do not wait around for poorly organised businesses. ➡️ Good candidates do not wait around for businesses to ‘see more people’ even though the feedback is that they are perfect for the role. ➡️ Good candidates do not wait around for prolonged, drawn-out interview processes. ➡️ Good candidates don’t accept lowball offers just so the company can save a quick buck. 👉 Here’s some advice: If you interview someone for a vacancy that you know is perfect for your business, do yourself a favour and tell them, hire them, secure them, and recognise their worth...or someone else will - faster than you can say “we have other people to see”. Two clients of mine, this week alone, have failed to move fast enough and have subsequently realised they have missed out on the best person for their job...and it's back to square one. 🚀 Streamline your time to hire. Know what you’re looking for and have the ability to recognise this whether it’s the first or 5th person you meet. Secure the right person for your business before your competitors snap them up.
