🌍 🌒 2024 is packed with hope and promise - but there’s not much more exciting to me on this New Year’s Day than the prospect of the Artemis moon missions, slated to launch from November onwards 🌍 🌒
The Artemis missions will be a robotic and human moon exploration program led by NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration along with six major partner agencies from Germany 🇩🇪, Japan 🇯🇵, Canada 🇨🇦, Israel 🇮🇱, Italy 🇮🇹 and the European Space Agency - ESA. It is intended to re-establish a human presence on the moon for the first time since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972.
🚀 🚀 🚀
I for one will be glued to the coverage…
witnessing truly international co-operation, on a universal scale…
… a collaboration that will no doubt be fraught with difficulty and difference - but whose collective goal will be of benefit to all mankind, just as the intrepid astronauts of the Apollo missions sought to achieve nearly half a century ago.
🧑🚀 🧑🚀 🧑🚀
We can (and will, no doubt) learn a lot from all aspects of this mission from planning through to execution👇:

We often talk about organisational visions. This is what it looks like in real life:
🌟 7 Characteristics of a Vision Statement:
1. Provides a mental image of an extraordinary accomplishment the organization would like to achieve.
2. Articulates the overarching, long-term goals of the enterprise.
3. Looks beyond the present to see what the future could be.
4. Asserts what the organization can be at its best.
5. Presents a target that beckons.
6. Reflects, often times, what is unique about your organization.
7. Is vivid, motivating, and memorable.
Well done ISRO. You're setting new benchmarks for the other corporates to emulate 👏🎉

As we near the anniversary tomorrow, 20th July, of the Apollo 11 American spaceflight that first landed humans on the Moon, it is a great chance to reflect why go. Jake Bleacher tells a great story of why in his discussion on the Small Steps, Giant Leaps podcast: Episode 131: The Artemis Lunar Terrain Vehicle. Other than talking to the technology advancements we all benefit from, he also talks to the science.
"So, when we ask questions of ourselves, for instance, why are we here? Where does life come from? We actually can’t answer those questions very well staying on the earth. Because the Moon has been a partner for us the entire time. It’s basically orbited the Earth and watched everything that has happened here on the earth. So, by going to the Moon scientifically, we can start digging up some of that evidence to help us understand where we come from, why we’re here – things we just can’t answer here. It also helps set the stage for how we interpret everything else that we see in the solar system.
So, I like to say we’re not just going to study the Moon. We’re going to study ourselves. We’re studying the Earth-Moon system and the solar system as a whole. And the Moon is a very critical piece of understanding that. "

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and Tripadvisor have launched "Destination: Space", a new content platform dedicated to space tourism, exploration, and education. "Destination: Space" aims to demystify space for the general public and make space tourism more accessible to all. The platform features Tripadvisor reviews and content from the growing community of astronauts who have traveled to space – sharing their unfiltered experiences of what it's like to travel off planet Earth. These human stories draw from the ever-expanding community of more than 600 people who have traveled to space...https://lnkd.in/gHtQwm2n
🚀Space sustainability = game changer
😄Join us in Milan to learn about challenges, opportunities, initiatives and capacity building in space sustainability. Or submit an abstract today!
💡The main objectives of the Workshop are to:
-Raise awareness of the various initiative to measure and predict the impact of space activities (spacecraft manufacturing, launch and re-entry) on the Earth environment;
-Showcase changes in space engineering practices to reduce the carbon footprint of the space sector overall, with technical innovations for greener technologies, financing of innovations and regulatory incentives for their adoption;
-Capacity building activities on space sustainability, especially from the perspective of new space faring countries and non-space faring countries keen to adopt best practices and preserve the sustainability of the space environment;
-Share challenges and success stories to de-orbit spacecraft responsibly, such as technical de-orbiting methods and tools, to discuss what methods are the most effective;
-Showcase success stories of technical coordination for space activities that have been impacting each other, such as astronomical observations and satellites operations, or activities of various nature on the surface of the Moon and Mars
-Share information on innovative space-based applications and services contributing to environmental sustainability on Earth.
🚀 Don't you hate working late....?
We've all had those days when work spills over into our personal time—late meetings, after-hours emails, and unexpected deadlines.
But picture this:
You're an astronaut who traveled to the International Space Station for what was supposed to be an eight-day mission.
Fast forward, and it's now Day 55 with no timetable for their return due to vehicle issues. 🛰️
Next time you're asked to stay late, think of these astronauts and their extraordinary journey.
This isn't just about working late; it's about resilience, adaptability, and finding ways to thrive when plans go astray. 🌟
