Though non-alcoholic (NA) beer, wines, spirits, and RTDs are important, there are some NA drinks we may have missed. There are thousands of traditional and historic non-alcoholic beverages that have absolutely nothing to do with NA beer, wines, spirits, and RTDs. My friend Scott Baird reminded me of their importance recently at San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The anthropologist in me loves to document, so I created a database of 100 traditional and historic NA drinks that I have some knowledge of, directly or tangentially. Some I’ve made, some I’ve modified in cocktail recipes, and some I’ve heard of or learned about indirectly. I’ll be detailing the database as I make the drinks and learn more. If you have any direct knowledge of the drinks, please feel free to comment and make recommendations. Also, comment if there are any you think I should include. https://lnkd.in/euQzPmZt #mindfuldrinking #alcoholfree #nonalcoholic #boozefree #alcoholfreelife #mocktails #nonalcoholicdrink #noalcohol #cocktails #drinks #mocktail #zeroproof #bartender #mindfulness #wellness

"For me, rather than a nonalcoholic red wine that lacks body, the NON 7 made with stewed sour cherries, coffee, and spices is a better beverage choice." NON featured by Fiona Chandry in Chowhound. Read More: https://lnkd.in/gkdvXia5

Volumes of no-alcohol beer/cider, wines, spirits and RTDs increased by approximately 60% in 2022. No surprises here, but beer dominates the share of servings across no-alcohol, however wine, ready-to- drink and spirits are showing signs that they’re here to stay. No-alcohol is also getting air-time in the on-trade segment as bars and pubs try to keep non-drinkers staying on-premise for longer and spending more. The biggest hurdle for emerging brands has been creating awareness and shaking perception that beverage/ beer minus alcohol tastes bad, which flows into difficulties in getting shelf space in the fridge. But this looks set to change, as national and independent retailers get behind the category. Talk to us about canning your next big thing. Is there anything better than sitting at a bar in the afternoon and enjoying a daytime cocktail and a small appetizer? If you ask us here at Southern Spirits, we'd say no. We're all about a cocktail and a little snack - kind of how the Italians do Aperitivo Hour with stuzzichini. With so many drink choices though - it's important to pick the right snack to complement it. We recommend reading the below to take the guesswork out of it, and find the perfect pairing for classic cocktails. https://lnkd.in/eFug_Qzb

Six AF Trends to Look Out For in 2025 Because the World Alcohol-Free Awards judges drinks in every category from all over the world, it’s a unique snapshot of trends and changes in the world of non-alc. With the third competition now open for entries we asked our head of judging, Chrissie Parkinson, for the six big questions she's expecting to come up in 2025 - and what the answers might be. Will we see more sophisticated adult juices and sodas? One of the big changes since we started two years ago is the blurring of lines between softs and adult drinks. There could be some really interesting, ambitious entries here. Is now the time for more radical styles of alc-free beer? Pale styles are well established in AF beer. And increasingly more than just ‘clean and refreshing’. We saw a few more radical entries – like fruit beers – last year. I’d expect more in 2025. How good will the hop waters be? This trend has really taken off over the last 18 months. But balancing hop flavours in a light drink is not easy. This could be a fascinating – and growing space. Will the range – and style of tea-based drinks continue to expand? Tea has been one of the big winners in this space, and we’re seeing some real innovation here. We can’t wait to see what crazy stuff it throws up in 2025! What radical innovations will we see? This space is ripe for being different. So might we see mixable drinks in sachets or powder form? Or really good AF wines in cans? Why not! The creativity is one of the reasons why we love AF! What new countries will we see? Last year WAFA received entries from 21 countries. But AF is growing all the time, and there’s still so much left to discover! We can’t wait to see what launches we might get from new countries - particularly in Asia, Africa and South America. We’d be interested to hear what trends you think we might see in the 2025 competition? Feel free to tell us! World Beer Day World Beer Day, celebrated on the first Friday of August, honors the brewing industry's heritage and cultural significance. Originating in 2007, it encourages people to enjoy beer together and appreciate the diverse varieties available, fostering a global community of beer enthusiasts. Tastecraft Malt Syrup Malt syrup, derived from malted barley flavour, is a thick, dark, and sweet ingredient used extensively in beverages. No Alcohol Trend The no alcohol trend is gaining significant momentum as more people seek healthier lifestyles and alternative beverage options. This trend is driven by a growing awareness of the health risks associated with alcohol consumption, a desire for better wellness, and an increasing interest in sober socializing. The market for non-alcoholic beverages, including beers, wines, and spirits, has expanded rapidly, with a focus on flavor, quality, and variety. Brewers are innovating to create non-alcoholic options that do not compromise on taste, allowing consumers to enjoy the social and sensory aspects of drinking without the alcohol. #Bartenders #Barista #foodandbeverage #Knowledge #beerday #Beverages #HoReCa

🍹The moment Amanda Thomson discovers Noughty is Top 🔝 Pick in Good Housekeeping’s ‘12 Bottles of Christmas’ feature, is a spotlight on the dramatic shift in the drinks industry. 🥂 Rather than the usual line-up of Non-Alcoholic drinks as a separate category, this is their top selection of drinks across the board, from Port to Champagne. 💡They smartly decided to incorporate alcohol-free, just like so many wine drinkers do now in the way they enjoy our wine. 🧠Let’s dig into the data… 🕺🏻 Whether you’re a Blender (22%) - enjoying both alcoholic and non-alcoholic at same occasion - or a Substituter (38%) - switching one for the other, depending on the occasion. 😮 Interestingly, the Abstainers (15%) are a smaller piece of the data pie which may come as a surprise. Triallers (25%) meanwhile normally drink full strength alcoholic drinks and occasionally try a non-alcoholic beverage. 📝And what’s intriguing is that they rigourously maintain independence with their tasting panel. #winetasting #celebration #HolidayDrinking #nonalcoholic #alcoholfree
