Did you know, #DYK, that in Initial Entry Training, #IET, each Trainee will receive combative Level 1 Training? This training focuses on building confidence in individual trainees' abilities to control an enemy in hand-to-hand combat. Completed in the final weeks of Basic Combat Training, #BCT, after completing all graduation requirements, Trainees will be exposed to Pugil Sticks and grappling techniques.

Hello everyone The last few weeks have been very disconcerting for folks in Australia, especially Sydney. A not-so-well known fact about me is that as well as a martial arts tragic, I am a licensed instructor in personal combatives, the self protection training that is a "civilianised" version of the methods from Kinetic Fighting (KEF GROUP) taught to all our soldiers, the NZDF, Thai Defence and soon the US Defence forces. Developed by Paul Cale, former 2 Commando with multiple deployments in various war theatres, and holder of dan rankings in multiple martial arts, the training assumes no prior knowledge in any martial art, as it was initially designed for fresh military recruits. Edged weapon survival skills are clearly a key part of this framework, and there are modules specifically designed to address these non-consensual violent encounters with bad actors. this is top of mind for many Sydney-siders right now. If you are Sydney based and have safety concerns, or want to know more, there are a couple of options for you to gain some skills in this area. I am running the next series in Sydney in May, go here https://lnkd.in/g73yTQ3C for more information and registration. Elsewhere in Australia, my colleagues in self protection also run these in main centres, and the information is available here: https://lnkd.in/gyR86tSh We can easily adapt this for Workplace Training - if this is something you are interested in, please reach out to me directly. If you want some more information I am happy to help out. #keepsafe #selfprotection #realworldproblem

Many traditions have methods to induce stress in a controlled environment so individuals can learn how to deal with the surge of neurochemicals and associated emotions. This is one of the values found in hiring and working with veterans; they have all had this training in one form or another. This video speaks to the Boot Camp process as a whole. What I like that is different from my Navy Boot Camp experience is teaching techniques to deal with stressors rather than ignore them and power through. https://lnkd.in/eMXghYrT

Why should you invest in the UNIT4 Training Rifle? It allows you to own your training in your environment. It installs accountability into your training regiment. Pie corners, work thresholds, and train your team (your family/friends) at home by shooting targets and each other with paint rounds. #ownyourtraining #trainathome

Things I have learned at the OC-T Academy for Cadet Summer Training: Cadet Summer Training is a rigorous summer culminating event for an MSIII cadet (junior cadet). Cadets at summer training will complete the following: - Height and Weight to ensure they meet the Army standard - Army ACFT (physical fitness test) - Rappel Tower and Confidence Course (obstacle course) - Basic Rifle Marksmanship (BRM): M4 group, zero, qualification - Grenade Assault Course - Field Leaders Reaction Course - Land navigation (day & night) **E3B:** 1. Weapons Lane: Clear, load, fire, perform immediate action, unload, and clear an M4, M249, M240. 2. Patrolling Lane: Range card, call for fire mission (CFF), camouflage, hand and arm signals, operate an ASIP radio, and send a SPOT report. 3. Medical Lane: Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) (restore breathing and/or pulse, control bleeding), request a medical evacuation (MEDEVAC), transport a casualty. 4. CBRN Lane: Assume MOPP III, decontaminate self, CS chamber. **Stx Lanes:** - 3x ruck marches with a 35lb pack (6 mi, 8 mi, 12 mi) - Conduct a total of 20 tactical missions with their platoon. - 4x leadership evaluations: they will be evaluated on Army leader attributes and characteristics. Each cadet receives a total of 4 evaluations (at least 2 of either Platoon Leader and/or Platoon Sergeant and 2x Squad Leader). 1. Cadre conducted tactical lanes as part of the CS/T train-up. This was humbling in two ways. We all learned our strengths and weaknesses. It was also tiring as we wore our FLC, carried our rucks, and were assigned a weapon for the lane. We did attack and ambush missions. Fort Knox, Kentucky weather is hot and very humid! I have gained even more respect for my Army family that took the time to train me. Junior Soldiers create an opportunity for leaders to plant a seed, and the individual soldier to grow strong roots. One day these cadets will be the leaders responsible for their own junior soldiers… that leads me to this. 2. I am training cadets to be future leaders. My son turns 16 years old in a month! Any of these cadets at Cadet Summer Training this year could be his future company commander! 3. During training, train to fight! Maintain the standard, treat transitions of missions as more than admin movements, maintain tactical environment uniform and discipline. Don’t lose out on opportunities to train to standard. 4. We pick up our cadets tomorrow for day 1. This is going to be the sprint! Teaching and coaching is my 100% focus for the next 30 days! I’m grateful to have an amazing team to work with, consisting of an armor Master Sergeant, military police Staff Sergeant (his 3rd summer training cadets at summer camp), and a communications Lieutenant who will attend his communications training following CST. Our team is strong, and together we have a wealth of knowledge. #CompetitionBreedsExcellence #WinningMatters #ArmyROTC #VMI

Basic training isn't just about physical endurance—it's about mental conditioning. In this latest episode of What It’s Like to Go to War, I break down the fundamentals of basic training and why it’s the essential first step in turning citizens into warriors. It’s about preparing the mind and body to respond instinctively under pressure, so when the stakes are high, warriors act without hesitation. Brutal? Yes, but it’s necessary for survival. Check it out and be ready for the next episode, where we dive even deeper into combat preparation: https://vist.ly/3mfmknv #WhatItsLikeToGoToWar #Military #Army #JeffStruecker
