Blueberries and tellurium are two things you never think to appear in the same sentence. These are two things linked to how Rio Tinto is #findingbetterways to manage waste across its operations. Rio Tinto is turning a waste by-product from aluminium processing into a safe and effective fertiliser for local blueberry growers, and extracting tellurium, a critical material used in emerging technologies, from the copper production process. At START, we track “waste management metrics” as part of our 3Ps approach to sustainability: Planet, People, and Progress. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gsyyt725

🌍 Measuring our impact to drive sustainability forward. At Molins, we calculate our carbon footprint, covering all three scopes that detail the sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Scope 1️⃣: Direct emissions, such as those from fuels used in our facilities. Scope 2️⃣: Indirect emissions from the electricity we purchase. Scope 3️⃣: Indirect emissions beyond our operations, linked to activities like transportation or the extraction and production of raw materials. Key insight: 99.6% of Molins Construction Solutions' emissions fall under Scope 3, demonstrating our deep understanding of the impact across our value chain. 🎉 What’s more, AENOR has verified this footprint, reinforcing our team's commitment to sustainability and transparency. By identifying these emissions, we can take targeted action to reduce them and collaborate with our value chain to build a more responsible future. 🌱 #Molins #Sustainability #BuildingPresent #ShapingFuture

Glencore Technology's ISACYCLE™ team is proudly supporting Atlantic Copper in their pioneering 'CirCular Project'! ♻️ This innovative recycling facility, powered by our ISACYCLE™ technology, is set to process a massive 60,000 tonnes of electronic scrap per year. This project marks a significant advancement in sustainable materials recovery and our new ISASMELT™ lance slag hammer design is just one of the exciting innovations we're introducing through this project. The lance slag hammer enables fully remote + automated operation, boosting both safety and efficiency. Its customisable design allows seamless retrofitting into existing furnace operations too. As critical components, like this slag hammer, undergo Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for the ISACYCLE™ plant in Spain, we're excited to witness the future of sustainable materials recovery unfold. For more information on the ISACYCLE™ technology, visit our website and get in touch https://ow.ly/Y0CH50UewOf #GlencoreTechnology #AtlanticCopper #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #Recycling #Innovation #ISACYCLE #Escrap

Traditionally, the chemical industry is known for its large environmental footprint and dependence on virgin fossil raw materials. At Perstorp, we have started to shift away from this, instead advocating the use of renewable and recycled raw materials based on mass balance. Pro-Environment products are chemically identical to their fossil counterparts, offering the same quality without trade-off in performance. The only difference lies in the raw materials, whose origins are renewable/recycled instead of virgin fossil. Our latest article sheds light on how Perstorp’s Pro-Environment products can provide value for businesses aiming to move away from fossil materials, lower their carbon footprint, and secure a competitive edge in the market. My #mission is to align global industries with #2050carbon neutrality goals, offering sustainable alternatives at competitive prices while delivering tangible environmental benefits.
At Emerge Resources, we are redefining the industrial landscape by delivering sustainable, high-performance solutions across infrastructure, construction, mining, and beyond. Since our founding in 2011, we’ve evolved from trading polymers to pioneering proprietary technologies that not only work but deliver measurable impact—unlike the greenwashing gimmicks of the market. Our patented innovations, including activated GGBS, advanced fly ash for soil conditioning, and cement-reducing concrete additives, lead to significant cost and environmental savings. For instance, just one tonne of our Surface Dynamics additive saves 30-50 tonnes of cement, cutting 27-45 tonnes of carbon emissions while reducing water usage by 40%.

🛑End of an Era🛑 LyondellBasell has announced plans to permanently close its Houston refinery by the end of the first quarter of 2025. 50% of the refinery is set to shutdown in mid-January, with the remaining scheduled for closure one month later, which will effectively mark the end of 106 years of continuous operation. Although plans are in place for demolition of key units, including the cokers, certain units may be salvaged and repurposed. Demolition is expected to commence this summer. In line with its strategic shift towards sustainable solutions, the company is evaluating several options for repurposing the site, including: -Recycled and Renewable-Based Feedstocks: Utilizing the facility to process recycled materials and renewable resources, aligning with global sustainability trends. -Green and Blue Hydrogen Production: Exploring the production of hydrogen through environmentally friendly methods, contributing to the growing hydrogen economy. These initiatives aim to transform the 700-acre site into a hub for LyondellBasell's Circular and Low Carbon Solutions business, supporting the expansion of their Circulen product portfolio. While these plans are under consideration, specific details and timelines have not been disclosed.

Already fully recyclable at the end of their (long, 25 year) life, our flat roof systems are only going to become more sustainable as Van der Valk Solar Systems continue the transition to using green steel across all steel components. Well worth a read, this short interview with Paul van der Meer, our Operations Manager and Environmental Coordinator, outlines our commitment to gradually shifting our steel materials - the #1 material used in our ValkPro+ flat roof mount - to ArcelorMittal XCarb™ steel. https://lnkd.in/ewhBwSF5

Milestone in the Cap2U Carbon Capture Project 🚀 On Wednesday, we celebrated the groundbreaking of the Cap2U carbon capture project by Linde and Heidelberg Materials in Lengfurt. Andreas X. Müller from Linde Gas Germany and Christian Knell from Heidelberg Materials Germany welcomed around 50 guests. The joint venture "Capture-to-Use" (Cap2U) will put a carbon dioxide separation and liquefaction plant into operation in 2025, processing around 70,000 tonnes of CO₂ from cement production annually. This processed CO₂ can be used in the chemical and food industries, such as in carbonated mineral water. The project is being planned and built by Linde Engineering. We are proud to contribute to reducing the CO₂ footprint in the cement industry with this project. This marks the start of an important chapter towards a circular CO₂ economy. Many thanks to all involved in achieving this significant milestone.
