By 1998 during Boris Yeltsin years & Russian Rouble crisis, Russia had turned into a decrepit confused demoralized nation, w/ demographic collapse & no bright future ahead. Ever since 2008 financial crisis (or possibly post Sept 11, 2001 overcommiting into illogical military boondoggles), US on the other hand has gone from its perspective in the exact opposite downward trajectory itself. Not only physical infrastructure, but also political infrastructure, financial infrastructure, & infrastructures along many other dimensions are decrepit & collapsing. Literal physical collapse of the bridge in Baltimore was a stark symptom of broad systemic collapse, well captured in this article. Russia in 2024 is absolutely NOTHING like Russia in 1998, & from a very bleak bottom has demonstrated an unbelievable resurgence. There are absolutely no common shared similarities between US & Russia in many respects. Totally different historical backgrounds, totally different demographics, totally different political backgrounds, totally different collective psychology. However, few important things common between US & Russia are: Both are vast geographical entities w/ multiple ocean coasts gifted w/ vast abundance of natural resources. Both have (had) excellent technical competencies in multiple domains w/ access to some of the most talented technology resources. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that despite its strengths, US is headed into a dark confounding abyss. Maybe something like Russia in 1998? Unfortunately very possible. If it was possible for Russia to launch an amazing resurgence from the darkest pits of hell it was in 1998, (notwithstanding all the differences between US & Russia), certainly for US it must be possible to reverse its course correctively & launch a resurgence too. However, the window of time to change course is extremely narrow & dwindling, & the urgency of the moment is critical. W/ whatever bunch of kakistocrats that have been steering macroeconomic & geopolitical ship for US for last 20+ years, there’s absolutely no hope of any self-reflection, let alone any corrections in the course. Only darkness inside a tunnel tumbling down lies ahead. A true psychological revolution & complete clearing of the deck among all dimensions of topmost echelons of governing bodies in US are an absolute must to achieve this. Not just new blood in literal physical sense i.e. all younger leadership, but also a revolutionary way of critical thinking (more in alignment w/ revolutionaries that founded the country), & genuine sincerity w/ self-education, lack of greedy selfishness & burning desire for wanting to re-establish constructive thriving prosperity back to this country, all of those would be an absolute must in order to reverse the course.

Dermot Quinn's essay lecture on "Gerald Russello and the Art of Memory," takes a look at Russello's intellectual legacy, including his exploration and defense of Russell Kirk's use of memory, imagination, and mystery. Quinn records, "First, he was a listener, a collector of stories. Then he was an interpreter, a maker of meaning. Then he was a counselor, a dispenser of advice. Finally, and in all these things, he was a man of hope. Listening, interpreting, advising, encouraging: Gerald’s great gifts of mind and heart and spirit were eagerly sought and generously shared." 𝐎𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭 >>> As dockworkers launch strikes at ports across the United States, listen closely as a different kind of contemporary American philosopher gives a lecture on “the mind-boggling nature of technology” and the power he intends to wield to confront it. As we accelerate into the exponential curve, human agency just might have unexpected impacts on everything from the upcoming U.S. presidential election to America's future regulatory landscape. “There’s a big change going on," he says (in an office far from Silicon Valley). "I’ve been fighting #automation for years…. Someone has to get into Congress and say, ‘Woah, time-out.' This world is going too fast for us…. Machines don’t have families…. Now they want to get rid of us?…. Who’s gonna win here in the long run?... In today’s world, I'll cripple you. I will cripple you. And you have no idea what that means. Nobody does.” Nathan Muniz Chris Gillen Paige Webster, CEcD Jeff Pappas Nick Bisconti, MBA Robert Loynd Dan Goldin Gabriel Toscana Vladimir Norov Simon Kriss Lian Rowlands Sean Goforth William Carson Elvis Melia Matt Kendall Neal Topf Peter Ryan Simon Danczuk Loren Moss Jens Butler Mark Angus Rod Jones Phil Fersht Mark Hillary 🤖 #TheWideningTurn #AIRevolution #Transformation #CounterRevolution #FutureofWork #ChaoticNow #Labor #ILA #Diplomacy

We are delighted to share this recent article Dr Satya T. collaborated on with HF, discussing the recent decision by the Irish (Admiralty) High Court in a recent international maritime collision case involving MV "Hua Sheng Hai" and the MV "Kirrixki". In “A Collision of Two Halves”, Satya, HF’s Stefanie Johnston and Martin Browne, explore the interpretation and application of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972 (COLREGS), focusing on how these regulations were applied, and the apportionment of fault in the collision.
