Recently, Under Secretary Gooden visited Westbrook Horse Farm, founded by Brian Westbrook, retired NFL running back, who, through a partnership between the Brian Westbrook Foundation and Data Science Camp, Inc., hosted a hands-on, immersive summer program for the high school students to build familiarity and competence with the approaches, tools, and analytical techniques relevant to harnessing the power of open data in agriculture, energy, and athletics. Under Secretary Gooden was present to showcase USDA’s commitment to developing and empowering the next generation of agricultural leaders and to motivate participants to consider pursuing careers in the agriculture, food, and natural resources systems.
