We've released a new Issues Brief today, focussing on Peatlands and Agriculture.   In it, we examine the interface between #peatland conservation and agriculture. There are currently challenges and tensions in reaching mutually beneficial outcomes for both. We provide the historical context and how land usage can negatively impact the ecosystem services of peatlands. Did you know that in 2019, there were approximately 1.28 million jobs in the agricultural sector in Florida? This is according to the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Science. The same report stated that agriculture contributed to about $106 billion in Florida economy that year. AlliedOffsets VCM / Compliance Tracker tool can be used to identify eligible projects, but also get an overview of the current price for different compliance schemes. For example, the data shows that the top five renewable, waste disposal and chemical process Korean-ETS eligible projects (by volume of available credits), have an estimated offer price of $3 a ton at the moment, compared to prices ranging from $5.33 to $8.66 a ton for agriculture and forestry and land use projects under California’s cap-and-trade scheme.
