As the American Airlines flight from Charlotte glides into New York's La Guardia Airport, New York, one of the advantages of a window seat is the mindboggling views en route from the glide down to the touch down, taxiing, and the ultimate docking with the bay and gate. And in that rich kaleidoscope, right from the swoop down from the air to the parking bay are amazing views. Including the Trump Force One, a Boeing 757-200, "registered in the United States as N757AF (ICAO hexadecimal AA3410) and was built in 1991. It was originally delivered to Denmark's Sterling Airlines and by 1993 was operated by Mexico's TAESA. In 1995, it became a corporate jet for Paul Allen's enterprises.[1] Trump's DJT Operations I LLC bought the plane in 2011." Fervently hope that this Black Bird stays grounded post-November 2024. Great to see United restoring IAD-SLC after an 11-year absence! Frequent flyers between the National Capital Region and the Wasatch Front should benefit from better pricing and schedules. With the recent addition of Breeze Airways from IAD to Provo, flight options are improving after years of consolidation, especially by Delta, to just one flight a day from IAD and DCA, and two daily from BWI. By the end of 2024 there will be 5 daily flights on 3 airlines and 3 weekly flights on Breeze: - BWI (Delta and Southwest 1X each, daily) - IAD (United and Delta 1X each, daily; Breeze 3X weekly) - DCA (Delta 1X daily). Note that for many years, there were 2X daily DCA-SLC on Delta but the airline swapped one of its DCA slots from SLC to LAX. As the 5th largest airport in the US by land area and with 4 parallel runways, Dulles is better positioned for expansion versus DCA--which has the most congested single runway in the country. By comparison, LAX also has 4 parallel runways but accommodates 4 times the number of flight operations as IAD. As a frequent IAD flyer, Dulles could use an upgrade to the United terminals (C and D), but functions well, is not subject to the delays of congested airports, and is now served by Metro's Silver Line.

👉GROUNDED… …oot ‘n aboot on this St Andrews Night at The Cawdor Tavern with a great book by Emma Henderson MBE MRAeS for company🥰✈️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I learnt from Emma today that St Andrew is not only a patron Saint of all things magical, but also that he knew much about the magic that is #LEADERSHIP. In that context, yesterday was a historic day in the UK where we saw the best of the UK Parliament and our elected leaders fully and freely engaged in important conversation. The conclusion was to advance the conversation a little further down the runway into Committee stage. For those who don’t know, the UK Parliament is particularly weak in scrutinising legislation. The true power of the UK Parliament rests in the framework of Committees who exist to scrutinise every detail, word by word, beyond the nuance, into crafting meaningful laws that impact us all. They create Inquiry and secure Accountability - a tough mission both graceful to behold whilst often potent. It’s timely then on this Saintly Day to also recognise Tan Dhesi and thank him for his leadership of one of the most powerful Committees in the UK Parliament - The Defence Select Committee. Very respectfully Tan, I recommend ‘Grounded’ to you and to your colleagues; it gifts you rare insight into what it’s really like being part of the military community today and will help you in your important work. To me, the book also underscores the need for a truly independent voice that represents all who serve/d…and their families. For those who don’t know, parallel legislation being discussed in the UK Parliament leans into the creation of an Armed Forces Commissioner.
