The Americans with Disabilities Act - signed into law on July 26, 1990 - safeguards students from discrimination because of a disability. As we celebrate #ADA34 today, here's how ED continues to enforce this life-changing law: https://lnkd.in/eQHqEBit
This law changed the world, moved it forward, and led the way for other countries as well.
And the GOP fought tooth and nail against this Act! The leadership had to bring Bob Dole down to floor to speak and beg his fellow Republicans to do the decent thing. Things haven't changed much. Only gotten worse with the Freedom Caucus and Trump and MagaNation.
It safeguards workers as well. Many disabled workers are entitled to work-from-home accomodations thanks to the ADA. Trump's #Project2025 will defund the department responsible for ensuring compliance.
Chris is correct- Trump's Project 2025 would send our wonderful partners with special challenges fully back to the Dark Ages!!! As a retired educator of 40 years; including time as a special ed teacher and administrator-- and now as a parent of young boys on the autism spectrum-- the presidential crossroads is critical VOTE.
Wonderful! I hope to see continued expansion of inclusion, and disability design practices.
Thank you for reminding us of this significant law and the importance of education for ALL!
I am so thankful that this law was there for me as a child getting through school but there is more that needs to be done.
NJ just launched a Disability Hub website that is a fantastic resource for services for persons with a disability and those who love them.
Thanks for sharing!

2moNever forget that it took dozens of disabled people literally crawling up the steps of Congress to get this passed.
