When our competitor Cord announced they were shutting down, most of their premium customers compared Velt (YC) against other players and decided to migrate to us. Here’s how we did it 👇 This was in spite of the fact that our prices were 5x the prices of others in the market (reflective of the value we add). 1. Increased visibility of Velt: • Ran ads for people searching for Cord. • Created a blog post describing the migration process. • Created a dedicated landing page showing how the migration will work and customers who have already done so. • 1:1 outreach over Linkedin. 2. Showed customers how Velt adds 10x more value: • Velt is fully customizable. • Velt has engagement boosting features like loom-style recording, slack-style huddles. • Velt’s commenting and notification features are enterprise grade. • It is so easy to implement, that even their interns could do it. 3. Made the migration a no-brainer: • Wrote a migration service to automatically migrate Cord data to Velt, so customers don’t have to write anything on their own. • Wrote a migration guide and plan for customers to see. 4. Provided awesome custom support: • Created a dedicated slack channel for each customer, to guide them through the process. • Each migration was slightly different, so we tailor made the solutions to meet each customer's needs. • Supported migration over the weekend, so that their users wouldn't notice a thing during the migration. We’ve successfully converted several existing Cord customers like Trumpet, CloudFactory, Vareto, That’s the one, and several others who were trialing their product, such as Pendo.
