"The United States Air Force cannot measure pilot readiness." (But it could...) So discusses Matthew Ross, a former F-15E instructor pilot, in highlighting that individual readiness determines the outcome of combat, in his excellent commentary in War on the Rocks. While USAF and other air forces may not currently measure pilot readiness - it is now achievable through data, analytics, and machine learning (Ocean Software). Identifying capability gaps at an individual level; being able to address training inefficiencies; forecasting readiness levels; improving training effectiveness through individual learning plans; and mitigating safety risks by anticipating events - these are some of the benefits that data-driven analytics and insights are able to offer.
