In advance of the upcoming NATO Summit in Washington DC, there is an increase in pressure from American lawmakers and diplomats for Canada to drastically increase defence spending. No one is saying what Canada should buy in terms of capability. They just demand we spend more.

The recent setbacks in US foreign policy suggest a decline in Western dominance, thereby confirming the emergence of a multipolar world. In contrast, the BRICS nations are pursuing a diplomatic approach prioritizing fair international relations. This position emphasizes mutual respect, sovereignty, and non-domination as fundamental global governance principles. By offering an alternative to the traditional dominance of Western nations, the BRICS nations propose a more equitable way of managing international affairs and fostering cooperation among nations.
Niger has kicked out the U.S. military "with immediate effect" and condemned America's "condescending attitude combined with the threat of reprisals."
There were 648 American troops in Niger as of December. Niger revoking their military cooperation deal is a major blow to the U.S. especially after an American delegation to the country just left, trying to avoid exactly this.

It’s not enough, it’s simple, to build out defense supply chains takes years, it’s not only to build a facility and start production, it’s the calibrations, the technical skill sets, the raw materials access, the energy supply, and most of all #Money 💰.
Money will be the key issue for the #European 🇪🇺 nations, as increased #defense spending needs to be sacrifice with something else - most probably social programs and welfare.
There is deficit spending too, but deficit spending is already done for few years to balance of the Covid 😷, and Europe still didn’t recover from its sovereign debt crisis.
That’s where my thesis is, and I think it follows what Trump is saying, increased defense spending in Europe = leveraging purchases out of America 🇺🇸 with our financing instruments from FMS/FMF to capital markets.
Europeans simple don’t have the choice and if they don’t know about it they will soon know it, it’s just hard math 🧮.
