Thinking of launching your idea into a business while in university? GoPlugable, was a #student #startup that began in the final year/semester of our' academic journey. The building in the background is where the company is registered, and it's a Students Union building at Queen's University Belfast + Dundalk Institute of Technology. We received a lot of support from academic and non-academic staff from both universities, which helped us succeed in this unique situation. As someone who has been there, I can attest that college and university are the best times to start a business. It's the perfect time to try, to fail and to succeed. #entrepreneurship Today I came across a very interesting book by Kathleen Allen the founding director of Marshall Center for Technology Commercialisation. Being an author myself, I am always intrigued by new age frameworks and literature dealing with new age entrepreneurs and developing student led ventures. What specifically caught my attention in the book’s ToC were the topics such as 1) Preparing for the entrepreneurial journey 2) Protecting the startup’s assets 3) Building the founding team. Most importantly, the books deals with “ Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities” which is apt for aspiring student entrepreneurs. Soon will be the time when entrepreneurship will be at the heart of every educational institution.
