We have a great milkweed crop in our yard but extremely few visitors except for bees. Plants are over 6 feet tall. Flowers are mostly done. Seed pods are forming, some fully developed.
Our milkweed is in full bloom and I am guessing 2 weeks early! I hope it isn’t to early for the monarch’s.

Milkweed is going gangbusters with the weather we've had, but no breeding Monarchs yet. I am worried. In 2022 I reared, tagged and released 50 butterflies. Last year, fifteen. I had one flit past a couple of weeks ago - likely migrating - but am still waiting to find eggs or caterpillars. Photo is of an Azalea Sphinx on my milkweed.

No caterpillars, but did see adult monarchs on the plants here at the University of Oregon. Here is the iNaturalist record.

None yet on mine. Sadly the aphids and ants have taken over all of mine, but I have a small milkweed planter with about 10-12 plants this year.
I haven’t seen any caterpillars yet. Lots of milkweed beetles and bees though.
Here in Central NM, Showy Milkweeds are thriving, but no adults nor caterpillars noted yet.
I had 3 on mine in South Louisiana! I have 2 milkweed plants. The heat is beating up on them now, but keeping them hydrated.

3wI had to go to a specialized nursery and pay $20 for one tiny narrowleaf milkweed (native to CA) because the Home Depots in California only sell the Eastern U.S. milkweed, which is too high in sugars from our CA Monarchs and they emerge deformed. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), any way to ensure Home Depot and other plant retailers sell REGIONAL NATIVE MILKWEED SPECIES only, since the Monarch is listed now? I'm hoping my $20 investment results in the start of a seed bank in my neighborhood in San Diego! 🦋
