To promote U.S. agriculture as a sustainable, available and high-value source for food and feed, U.S. Grains Council staff based in its Beijing, China office recently participated in the 2nd China International Supply Chain & Logistics Expo. The event, organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and held over five days, boasted nearly 700 exhibitors and attracted more than 50,000 attendees including policymakers and fellow industry and logistics professionals looking to establish lasting business relationships. “Reinforcing U.S. agriculture’s place as the most reliable and highest-quality supplier for the world’s food demand was a top priority for us at this event and I absolutely think we accomplished that through networking with participants at our booth,” said Manuel Sanchez, USGC director in China. It's almost here! COCERAL's Annual General Assembly begins 6 June at the InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest, with an Open Session from 14h to 16h ⬇ The Open Session is always a fantastic informal exchange between business and policy makers. Given the importance of #GrainTrade to the region, we'll be discussing questions such as: ➡ To what extent has the war in #Ukraine transformed the role of Constanza as a hub for grain trade; ➡ To what extent could geopolitical tensions that currently impact trade flows have longer term implications for Europe’s destination markets for cereals & oilseeds; ➡ How should the EU revisit the #GreenDeal to take into account the requests addressed by farmers while demonstrating throughout Europe. We look forward to the discussion, and particularly the contributions from our keynote speakers Pierre Bascou, Irinel Ionel Scriosteanu, and Florian-Emil Dumtru.

I am pleased to share my latest co-authored paper in the International Business Review (ABS: 3; ABDC: A; IF: 5.90). Our study focuses on coopetition in export markets, and in particular, the drivers of these strategies. Specifically, we found that an export coopetition-oriented mind-set drives export coopetition strategies. However, the main contributions arise from the role of moderating issues. First, this link was positively moderated by export competitive aggressiveness, but second, was not significantly impacted by export competitive intensity. Collectively, our work provides unique insights for academics and practitioners into the antecedents of coopetition, notably, with new evidence concerning how these activities manifest in international arenas. Please see: Crick, J.M., and Crick, D. (2025). Don’t stop believing: The manifestations of coopetition in export markets. International Business Review, forthcoming: https://lnkd.in/eJ-bf5aC

MEDIA RELEASE: AUSTRALIAN LIVE LOBSTER TO AGAIN DELIGHT CHINESE CONSUMERS The Australian seafood industry today celebrates the resumption of live lobster exports to mainland China. This milestone represents the culmination of sustained cooperation between industry and government officials in both countries. Industry is grateful for the efforts of these officials in restoring live trade of Western, Southern and Eastern Rock Lobster. This critical achievement demonstrates that Australia-China trade relations are progressing positively, creating value and benefits for all involved. However, there is still work to be done for Australian Tropical Rock Lobster, which remains constrained by a separate trade impediment. Industry welcomes further efforts between government officials in both countries to find a collaborative way forward on this issue to resume trade in sustainably-sourced lobster from the heavily impacted Torres Strait fishery. Australian rock lobster has long been prized in China for its superior quality, taste and sustainability credentials. The resumption of trade will see this premium product once again available to Chinese consumers, while supporting thousands of jobs in Australia's coastal communities. Industry looks forward to building stronger relationships with our valued Chinese partners and ensuring the long-term stability of this important trade relationship.
