Today marks another milestone in my career as I celebrate 9 years of progress! This journey has been filled with different job roles, experiences, and challenges that have all helped shape the person I am today. I am grateful for all the opportunities and knowledge I've gained along the way. Here's to the past 9 years and to many more years of growth, development, and achievements! #WorkAnniversary#CareerMilestone#ProfessionalGrowth#Gratitude#CareerJourney 🥳👩💼🚀
Graduations.
🎓
For some they bring great memories. For some, they bring hard things back to remembrance. Today, we got to celebrate new hires graduating from training and moving to production.
🎓
Will they choose to retire from Cox? Do they see this as their career? While they might all be in the same role right now, in less than 5 years, there is a high chance that they will all be in different roles. How they (and we) make decisions and choose how to show up to work each day will determine our next steps and how we can grow in our learning and experience. As leaders, we must ask ourselves, how can we help prepare them for another role? How can we help guide them? How do we help them strengthen their skillsets and deepen their knowledge? How do we help them get the exposure and experience they need? I can't wait to see how they grow, and I'll be cheering them on in the process.

Allow me to re-introduce myself (a la Jay-Z in “Public Service Announcement”)
Over the years I’ve been intentional about keeping a low profile on social media both personally and professionally. However, I’ve recently come to embrace the power of LinkedIn and how beneficial it can be to any professional looking to network, stay up to date on industry news, and meaningfully invest in your own personal and professional growth.
I have a unique story and if you’ll humor me a little, I’d like to share some of it with you in a more intentional way. I promise not to overshare, but it is definitely a story worth sharing. I hope to provoke thought, provide perspective, and inspire action.
The first story I’d like to share is how I ended up making the transition from active-duty Marine Corps Officer to healthcare executive.
As my active-duty contract neared its end, I wasn’t sure how I would navigate the transition into the civilian workforce. I applied for jobs all over the world (even as far as South Africa) and I wasn’t getting anywhere. Fortunately, I had heard about military officers working with various firms that would help with their next career moves.
During one of his many military town visits, I was fortunate enough to have met Joel Junker from Cameron-Brooks, Inc. (CB). During this initial meeting, he interviewed me and several other junior military officers for prospective representation and I was accepted into their leadership development program. CB was instrumental in helping us articulate our military experiences in a way that resonates in the private sector, through carefully crafting our resumes, interview prep and helping us convey our “hammer stories.”
The culminating event was a spectacularly produced career conference which I had the lucky experience of having done in person. During the four-day conference, approximately 100 military officers came from all over the world to interview with over 50 different companies.
I spent two days on what I would describe as the speed dating of interviewing. I interviewed with 13 different companies from all sectors. 12 of those companies wanted me back for a second interview (Ernst & Young didn’t think I could commit to the consultant lifestyle since I had young children). After weeks of travel back and forth from Camp Lejeune to Atlanta, Baton Rouge, Bloomington, Chicago, New York and Oklahoma City and receiving offers from each company I decided that I would take a position with DaVita Kidney Care in the Metro Detroit area under the leadership of Michael King, Axel E Lapica & Julianna Oswald
I wanted to start with this story as a way to not only share my experience but to also provide some awareness to my professional network of this amazing opportunity to recruit turn-key-ready leaders into your organization through the Cameron Brooks pipeline.
Check out this video of me after wrapping up the 13th interview in two days LOL

Have you set your profile in Goldcast for #HandshakeAccess on May 1-2?
How many of the questions did you get correct for the "Spin The Wheel" option?
Handshake Access 2024 has several interesting sessions featured on both days. I am most excited for "Gen Z gets real: an honest conversation with early talent" because I love hearing from students about their career journey! I am then able to share insights with employers who recruit Kennesaw State University students.
It's also great learning from all #Handshake users across the platform (#student, #Employers, and #CareerServices).

💡 Shining bright, one connection at a time
💫I share career content 4 young professionals , International students and Immigrants. “Views expressed are my own “
This week, I had a meaningful encounter that reminded me of the profound impact we can have on others. A young professional I once inspired during a career session reached out to let me know that my advice helped shape her career journey.
She works with KPMG now and was so excited when I announced I joined the firm, ensuring she was one of the first people I met in person. She shared how she implemented every piece of advice she got during that career session and the impact it has had on her career.
It’s funny how I attended that session to attract talent to a previous employer, but the impact extended beyond the confines of that environment and has followed me wherever I go.
I have often believed that impact is never limited to a specific environment, especially when it affects people, who are always on the move.
Reflect on your identity and visualize the person you aspire to become. Take actionable steps towards your goals, whether it's reaching out to a mentor, pursuing a dream role, or sharing your insights.
Remember, focusing on doing what's right can lead to unexpected and remarkable outcomes.
Each decision you make today shapes the person you'll become tomorrow.
