Yesterday, I had the privilege of volunteering at the Allegheny County Food Bank, where our team packed 960 boxes of essential food items for senior citizens in our community. This experience was not only fulfilling but also a vivid reflection of the values I embrace daily at Amazon. 📦 **Customer Obsession**: Each box was packed with the understanding that we're not just sending food; we're sending care, nutrition, and respect to those who need it most. 🔗 **Ownership**: Taking ownership of our collective goal, each volunteer was integral in ensuring we met our target. It was a powerful reminder that every effort counts, no matter the scale. 🔄 **Invent and Simplify**: We streamlined the packing process, implementing a simple assembly line that maximized efficiency and minimized wait times. Innovation isn't just for the workplace; it thrives wherever there's a need. 👫 **Hire and Develop the Best**: Working alongside volunteers from diverse backgrounds, it was clear that a community thrives when it leverages varied skills towards a common good. 🎯 **Deliver Results**: The goal was ambitious, but so was our commitment. Packing 960 boxes meant 960 opportunities to make a difference, and we delivered. This experience was a powerful reminder of how the principles that guide us professionally also resonate in our community contributions. I am proud to be part of a team that not only supports, but encourages us to give back. Here’s to making a difference, one box at a time! #Volunteering #CommunityService #LeadershipInAction #AmazonLeadershipPrinciples #DeliveringSmiles Amazon

Our No Cost Grocery Programs operate in a way that addresses some of the barriers to food access that exist in the traditional food pantry model. Managing the logistics and volunteers for the 9/11 Day Meal Packing Event was no small feat, but incredibly rewarding! With over 1,000 volunteers, multiple shifts, and thousands of meals to pack, there were a lot of moving parts to ensure everything ran smoothly. #LogisticsManagement #VolunteerManagement #ServiceDay #911Day #TeamWork #LeadershipInAction

It’s survey week! We are currently conducting surveys at each No Cost Grocery Program to find out what participants like about the programs and how we can make our them better suited to participants needs. Thanks to our amazing translators (including Natalia, pictured), our surveys are available in 10 languages. Community feedback is central to the design of No Cost Grocery Programs. We aim to constantly improve the programs structures to honor the voices of those being served. #foodaccess #foodrescue #foodjustice #foodsecurity #healthequity #healthequitynow #healthequityjustice #healthequityforall #foodwaste #denvervolunteers #volunteer #foodpantry #denverfood #denver #giveback #sustainability

Every day I wake up and I express my gratitude for having a new day. This is a common practice in my circle. Some days I go to work in a clinic and review the health of people's eyes. But the other days I go into Souper Kitchen and do all the things. Jobs I would never have dreamt myself doing. A touch of banking, a smidge of accounting, a sprinkle of cooking, a bucket-full of social media and photography (albeit, that part is easy to imagine), HR, barista and the list never stops. But why do I still volunteer to do it? Aside from the fortnightly support hampers that Souper distribute to people who have fallen upon hard times (abuse, financial, health etc) and need longer-term assistance, we have a number of recipients who just need help getting back on their feet. Thanks to the existence of the Bistro, they can walk in, with dignity, and self-collect much needed items that could make all the difference to them in their hour of need. We live in excruciatingly challenging times. There is now over 40% of Victorians living with food insecurity. There are millions of fruit and veg being rejected by the duopoly. There is a global mismanagement. The way I see it, is if I get up and show up, Souper has a chance to make a small, but significant dent in this crisis. As individuals we can't create the impact that we can as a community. And so, I proudly volunteer to co-lead this amazing community with my wonderful friends, our inspiring chef and incredible workers. #volunteering #volunteerdirector #payingitforward #niche #fromtheheart

🍎 Making a Difference in Bamberg, SC! Access to fresh produce isn't a given for everyone, especially in Bamberg, SC, where there are no grocery stores—a true food desert. That's where Foodshare Bamberg has stepped in to fill the gap. As demand for fresh produce grew, ensuring efficient distribution became a challenge with the existing packaging process. That's when Lara Buss (Southeastern Housing and Community Development) and Foodshare Bamberg turned to @sepg [tag] for help. SEPG recommended introducing an auto-load box to streamline the process. Now, delivering essential goods is faster and more effective! Learn how SEPG and Foodshare Bamberg prove that small changes in packaging can make a big impact in serving communities! 🥙 🤼 Making a Difference with Everybody Eats! Something close to my heart is giving back & when I find opportunities to do so with the added benefit of a greener outcome, I am keen to get involved. This week our Custom Crew at Custom Fleet had the privilege of volunteering with Everybody Eats, a pay-as-you-feel dining concept for everyone. We worked both in the front and back of house service teams supporting the evenings food service. We left feeling inspired by their mission of 'Feeding Bellies not Bins' and all in all couldn't have gotten more out of the experience, to the customers, fellow volunteers and Everybody Eats team - thanks! If you’re looking for ways to get involved or support a great cause, I highly recommend checking out Everybody Eats and seeing how you can contribute to their mission. Everybody Eats is focused on tackling three main problems: 1- Too much food - Humans waste around one-third of the food we produce. 1.3 Billion tonnes of perfectly good food, worth over One Trillion dollars. 2 - Not enough food - At the same time over one billion people are going hungry. Recent studies show that in New Zealand 1 in 6 people don't have enough to eat. 3 - Disconnected - Communities are increasingly fragmented. We don't know our neighbours anymore. Social Isolation is a significant and growing problem. Tania Hammond Adam Peters Nadine Martin #Volunteering #CustomFleet #CommunitySupport #GreenImpact #EverybodyEats #CustomCares

We are so excited to share that UP Holland is building a food pantry! Ms. Rosario, our Coordinator of Family and Community at UP Holland, spearheaded this initiative in partnership with Stop & Shop, and advocates tirelessly for resources that support our students and families 🥕 Despite being one of Boston's biggest neighborhoods, Dorchester is also one of Boston's most food insecure neighborhoods with fewer grocery stores per capita than any other Boston neighborhood. This has historically been caused by redlining, segregation and other practices rooted in systemic racism and anti-Blackness. What does equity mean at UP? It means diligently increasing access to resources and disrupting the inequities that our school communities experience. Median income in Dorchester - $47,200 Median income in the Seaport (just 20 min away) - $167,000 📈 #thisisup #foodinsecurity #foodapartheid #equitableaccess #communityfirst
