Kudos to Dr. Tom Karako and Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) for hosting another most interesting security forum. This week, the spotlight was on #RADM Fred Pyle, N96 on the #CNO's staff at the #Pentagon. The wide-ranging, overarching theme: recent operations in the #RedSea and #MediterraneanSea, building the #futurefleet, and pursuing #globalovermatch capabilities. 🌐 ARCTIC CIRCLE -- Forces from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, Canada, Denmark, Norway, and the United Kingdom recently concluded high-impact training throughout the pan-Arctic region; a vast area stretching from Alaska all the way across Canada and into Greenland. Arctic Edge 24, a U.S. Northern Command exercise, emphasized integration and Joint Force tactical effectiveness in a variety of chilly scenarios such as: diving, helicopter fast roping, swift insertions, snow mobile tactics, long-range endurance-building movement -- all culminating in the Joint Force responding to a fast-attack submarine event. 🔥 This training epitomizes the nation’s unwavering commitment to maintain an enhanced presence, strengthen cooperative partnerships, and build a more-capable Arctic maritime force. 🌊 Capt. Bill Gallagher, Naval Special Warfare Group TWO Commodore, emphasized his team’s unique capability to conduct complex operations in the water column and maritime domains like the Arctic where presence helps deter aggression and demonstrates the unwavering preparedness to defend the homeland in the Arctic. This is critical engagement that needs to happen to connect policymakers and investors together ... and to see projects that can enhance the industrial base both for national security needs but also to develop products for the consumer markets. Also important to stress how the stability in which business thrives rests on effective military deterrents.

It was great to hear Ms. Nashold, Deputy Commander, #NAVIFOR, talk about the integrated #NavyIW force and the important role of Naval Meteorology and Oceanography, #CNMOC. #itstartswithus #WEST2024

#navalintegration is occurring at all echelons primarily with an emphasis at the Fleet and MARFOR level, or lower, small unit level. However, for the Navy DMO will still be executed at the CSG level. It would be wise for the FMF to start integrating with CSG training events to understand how the Navy will plan and execute operations in the "blue" water, so Marines can conduct operations in the "brown" water littoral areas and enable DMO. I encourage FMF units to reach out to CSG-4 (East Coast) / CSG-15 (West Coast) and see if they can participate in CSG events beyond current efforts. Marines will learn a lot which will better inform planners and commanders on how best to employ FMF forces, and the Navy will see the Marine Corps can contribute to the DMO fight.
