How much fun does this look!! 😃 The Occupational Therapy session started with deep pressure and proprioceptive activities to prepare the body for the session, increasing body feedback and aiding regulation. 😌 The child completed an assault course, which involved crawling activities to support with bilateral coordination and organisation. During the session, the child used cutlery to cut strawberry laces to match different sizes of lines. This was to support with visual perception, bilateral coordination, and fine motor skills. 🍲 Further fine motor activities including tying the frogs with strawberry laces, followed by visual tracking activities including squirting foam at the moving frogs 🐸 👀. If you know me, you know that I have a passion for speaking out on behalf of all occupational therapy practitioners who work in an environment that is not supportive of client-centered, evidence-based practice! Until we, as leaders, rumble with the leaching toxicity of productivity demands and unrealistic caseloads, we will continue to ask why so many practitioners are resistant to getting involved in associations who are quiet and look away from the struggle. Until we as practitioners rumble with the pressure of progressively reduced reimbursement rates, and the ripple fallout in a business, we will continue to not understand the critical aspect of joining together in numbers and having a voice loud enough to be heard by crucial game-changing legislatures and insurance companies. Educated rumbling leads to good questions, and good questions lead to meaningful research on how these corporate pressures affect client health outcomes & practitioner longevity! Here is education that is NOT shying away from the topics that are some of the most critical and most meaningful to our practitioners! I'm in - sign me up!
