I am here to share that I have recently completed the task of a Simple Password Analyzer as part of the Internship of Pinnacle Labs. This simple project helps to evaluate the strength of the password which the user enters. While this may seem pedestrian for some, the fact is that what Netskope is doing has an incredible benefit to our profession and the country. As both an educator and IT professional, I applaud them. We have a crisis in this country in many professions. But IT, in general, has a burgeoning and self-created crisis. There has been a push to get young people, especially women, into the IT field, particularly in cybersecurity. Yet, there are few jobs or internship opportunities that new graduates qualify for. Many firms are setting unrealistic barriers to entry for young people. Entry-level jobs that require two to three years of job experience. Internships that require a Master's degree and hands-on experience with all three major computing platforms (yes, true. At a major global bank). Even entry-level help desk jobs are now requiring at least 2 years of IT experience. Why? I have taught hundreds of young people the last 4 years across 4 colleges. The majority of them struggle to find internships and jobs because of these requirements. Thank you Netskope.
