Meet the interns of the Office of Talent and Innovation who bring with them a wide range of interests and experiences: The University of Texas at Arlington's Ayesha Anwer, The University of Texas at El Paso’s Jasmine Cedeño, The University of Texas at Austin's Jayden Ramirez and Marco Nevarez, and The University of Texas at Dallas' Kyle Larson. ➡ Ayesha is eager to learn more about predictive analytics and data-driven strategies to help streamline business processes. ➡ Jasmine hopes that her time as the HR Business Partner intern this summer paired with her studies in finance may help her to start her own business one day. ➡ If Jayden could, she would spend hours in Adobe After Effects, which is why she is excited to continue video editing and marketing in year two with the UT System. ➡ Marco is laser focused on a career in public health making him, and his background as a nursing school graduate, a perfect fit for the Wellness Program internship. ➡ And Kyle aims to expand on his Human Resources Management field of study by gaining hands-on work experience in multiple aspects of HR. We are excited to see them all make their way toward their dream jobs! 💪

Summer is intern season. But why should that matter to you as a leader? It means young and (questionably) fashionable college students are wandering the office. And trying to figure out how to use the printer. More than that, they’re trying to figure out what they want to do with “the rest of their lives." While these twenty-somethings want to learn from your company, there’s an opportunity here for you to seek out their insight and perspective. You can learn from your interns. The younger generation offers a fresh outlook on life and work. They’re eager, wise, and have more to offer than just an afternoon coffee run. In fact, they could be in charge one day. Here’s my challenge to you this summer: Take your interns out to lunch. Stay curious, ask them questions, and be open to their worldview and feedback. Most importantly, pick up the bill. Summer is intern season, but the real opportunity is for you to be a student.

The BrandLab CEO | Keynote Speaker | Board Director | Change Maker | Community Investor | Personal Branding Enthusiast
It's that time of year - time to start planning for summer internship season. If you work in or around a marketing/advertising/creative team and are considering hosting interns this summer, I'd love to ask that you consider working with college-level BIPOC interns through The BrandLab A few key aspects of our program: 🌟 Our interns are placed into organization in a cohort of 2 or more (DID YOU KNOW: the marketing & advertising profession is about 90% White in the Midwest - we ensure our interns a cohort so they never feel like they are 'the only' person of color within a team) 🌟 A 10-week internship that begins in June, runs through August and includes The BrandLab-administered professional development curriculum. 🌟 The BrandLab recruits, hires, and manages payroll for the interns, based on the job descriptions/role requirements shared by our partners. 🌟 A Matching Event takes place in the spring to allow our interns and partners to opt into a relationship with each other. 🌟 The 10 week internship cohort of 2 interns costs $15k (and covers the cost of the interns' payroll). Internships are available in Minnesota, Kansas/Missouri, and Wisconsin. If you want to learn more, send me a PM - I'd love to chat!

🗓️ This week, as summer internship season is coming to a close, we take an in-depth look at which interns are likely to return as full-time employees. 👉🏻 Intern retention rates are highest in accounting, financial services, and tech roles, with around 30% of interns returning to their employers in full-time positions. 🏅Highly prestigious companies retain more than 15 percentage points more of their interns than less prestigious companies. 📌 Companies with higher retention rates are rated highly in Compensation & Benefits and Career Opportunities by their interns relative to companies with lower retention rates. Horns Up, Current Texas Advertising & Public Relations Students: IPG Health has a great summer internship program and applications are open (due 1/31/24). IPG Health calls the program, the "Bold Beginners Program." It's so important that more strategic communication agencies offer internships like this to make students very prepared for industry. And it's PAID. I do not 'push' unpaid internships - it is not ethical in my opinion. You also have the opportunity to speak to the recruitment team during their virtual office hours. Just graduated? Graduating soon? Find out if they will allow you to apply as well - many interns are offered full-time positions post internship. Let's get some Longhorns in the program! Hook 'em! #txadpr #thelabut #txmedia #txcreative #moody #hiremoody #hornsup
Our Bold Beginners Summer Internship Applications launched last week, and we are so excited to continue looking through applications through January 31! (application details can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eN4jk7tN) In the meantime, if you have questions about the Bold Beginners Program or Application Process, the IPG Health Campus Recruitment Team wants to help! Join us for one of our virtual office hour sessions, either Nov 28 or Jan 11, anytime from 10 AM-2 PM EST. We look forward to connecting with you! * Please keep in mind that this event is to answer questions about the general program and application process, and will not be utilized for individual interviews or for conversations regarding full-time positions. Those who register through the below link and are eligible for the Bold Beginners program will receive a follow-up email with a zoom link closer to the office hours events. If you are new to the profession - and starting a summer internship - you are more tuned into the business press. Two weeks ago, the world saw rate cuts in the US as a 2025 affair. Fast forward to today - and with a bit more data – the world sees at least some cuts in 2024. Feel like conventional wisdom is a puppy chasing a forecasting ball around the yard? Therein lies the advantage of attending our June Macro Summit for Summer Interns. Establish an intellectual framework early in your career. Let the rest of the investment profession chase frisbees.

Congratulations on completion of your successful paid summer internship with DHEC Central HR, Jocelyn! You did outstanding work on all your projects--and added value to our organization. Indeed, your internship was a model for a positive experiential learning opportunity. Best wishes in your continued academic and professional endeavours! #internships #internshipprogram #paidinternships #experientiallearning #careerdevelopment #resumebuilder #networking
“How did this happen?” That’s what Jocelyn from April 2023 would be asking if she could see where I was by August 2023. Fresh out of my Human Resources internship with the S.C. Department of Health & Environmental Control and a new minor added to my academic path, I can hardly believe the journey that has taken place during this summer break! At DHEC I was able to develop my skills in SharePoint, learn how to use NeoGov for recruiting, and discover so many details about employee benefits and how DHEC runs. Finally, my time at the state agency showed me an industry need to take up a minor in New Media & Digital Culture, pushing back my graduation to 2025. However, this summer’s journey, like many, could not have been undergone alone. Thank you to Noah Whitlock, MBA and Nicole Beyersdorf, SHRM-SCP for encouraging me to undertake an internship in the first place, and Ronald Miller, Jr., Ph.D., Anna Cox, and Debbie Byrd for mentoring me while at DHEC.
