What is holistic wellness to you? I recently had a conversation with a colleague about this. The word “holistic" tends to get thrown around a lot, but it's never truly defined. To me, Wel at Humana is the true definition of "holistic wellness." We've adopted Exos' approach and encourage individuals to think of well-being in four main pillars. It's fine-tuning not only your physical health through movement, but it's dialing in on nutrition, channeling a growth mindset, and always prioritizing recovery. For peak performance – whether you're a professional athlete, corporate executive, or stay-at-home parent – you must maintain balance in all four areas. Striving for that balance is when we reach holistic wellness.

It is amazing to see a growing interest in creating a modal shift and inclusive/safe streets - from a variety of societal institutions. The concept is so simple, yet we still see the focus on investment towards re-creating and supporting problematic street infrastructure. When I talk with people about how they want to see their streets designed, it is surprising how many haven't even considered how they COULD change their streets. There is this common idea that it is the way it is, and therefore should stay that way, or that the number one priority is to make sure vehicular traffic moves quickly and more efficiently... BUT, when you design streets so that more people can CHOOSE how they want to move in their community, you actually lighten traffic by diversifying the street users. You also create a more enjoyable experience for ALL street users, be they driving cars, bikes or walking. Let's keep these wheels of change moving, people! Making space for EVERYONE is the best things we can do for our streets. It promotes inclusivity, it allows people to feel freedom, it promotes community and connection, and best of all, it increases safety. Tell your city councillor, your mayor - that you want to see change in how your streets are designed. Challenge the status quo, Strike up conversations with your friends, family and colleagues... Question when priority is given to vehicles over humans. Let's make this modal shift together!

Go Guarded Safety for Runners Review https://lnkd.in/gShkVnMy I have the Go Guarded ring, handheld with pepper spray, and personal alarm. The details for all three products are in the article, plus the link to the Go Guarded website. I have mostly been carrying the handheld with pepper spray over the past few months. I either carry it in my hand or tuck it into the front of my run vest where I can easily and safely access it. Fortunately, I've never had to use any of the products. They make me feel more confident when I run. Also in the article, I share how I practice safety during my runs, which includes a mental strategy. Lastly, there are additional resources for runners on safety. Social media accounts that I like to follow and articles that I have found helpful. Pickleball is outgrowing its available court space. • In 2022, the total number of first-time pickleball participants alone exceeded the total number of players in 2021. • For continued growth at the same pace, the industry requires a $900M investment to build 25K courts nationwide, per SFIA. • 74% of US community associations have or are building pickleball courts, with 76% of members reporting courts are in near-constant use, according to CAI. Fortunately, as the sport’s frenetic growth continues, dedicated venues are getting fast-tracked. Watch for clubs like Ace Pickleball Club or recreation x restaurants concepts like Camp Pickle and Chicken N Pickle to pop up in a neighborhood near you. Meanwhile, gym operator Life Time Inc. has constructed five indoor and outdoor pickleball courts per week since 2022, with no sign of slowing down.
