🌐💡Broadlinc Bytes: Decoding Internet Speeds💡🌐 In the ever-evolving world of telecommunications, understanding the fundamentals of internet speeds is crucial, whether you're in the industry or navigating it as a consumer. Why do speeds vary, and what influences them? At its core, internet speed is akin to a highway system. Data travels like vehicles on this digital highway. The more data – or vehicles – using the network at any given time, the more congested it can become, particularly during peak usage hours. This analogy helps demystify why speeds can fluctuate and why having a robust infrastructure, like the one we build at Broadlinc, is vital for consistent and reliable connectivity. Understanding these basics is key, especially for those of us in the telecom industry. It allows us to better serve our customers, anticipate needs, and stay ahead of challenges. Tune in for more #BroadlincBytes insights into the dynamics of internet technology and how it shapes our digital experiences. When I think about it, mobile networks are one-size-fits-all services. While 5G technology is set to change that paradigm. With its capabilities for low latency, expanded coverage, increased security/trustworthiness and the innovative concept of network slicing, 5G is poised to transform mobile connectivity into a more tailored experience. Imagine a future where mobile networks are not just a static buffet but rather a dynamic bistro menu, offering exactly what different users and applications need. Achieving this vision requires more than just incremental upgrades. A complete 5G standalone network is essential to harness the full potential of differentiated services. This technology can manage network functions to meet diverse demands while ensuring fair access for all users. The potential for this shift is immense. From high-speed connectivity for live streaming to optimized network traffic management, 5G opens up new business opportunities for developers and CSPs alike. The invention of broadband revolutionized how we live, work and communicate thanks to the power of high-speed internet. In less than 30 years, it’s a necessity in our lives. According to S&P Global, just 0.6% of U.S. homes had broadband in 1998. Fast forward to 2022, and high-speed internet had reached an impressive 87.4% penetration — amounting to 126.1 million households. The growth trajectory has been extraordinary, generating $111.73 billion in total revenue in 2022, more than doubling its 2012 top line. As we celebrate the evolution of broadband, we look forward to a future where connectivity knows no bounds. 💻 #RLMUnderground #TelecomConstruction #FiberBroadband

This article highlights some of my concerns with scaling large wireless internet networks. There have been substantial subscriber gains in fixed wireless internet over the last 1-2 years. Seeing more competition and people connected to the internet in rural areas is great. The internet companies tout no data caps and lower prices, so many people sign up naturally. However, there is a network saturation with an influx of new customers, where the bait and switch comes into play. In the article, this company mentioned that "heavy users" will be de-prioritized on the network and experience congestion. I understand that wasn't made clear when signing up for service. From a technical perspective, the endpoints and towers are where there is a capacity bottleneck. Fiber can carry up to 400G per second throughput in some areas, where most wireless equipment at the edge can only handle and broadcast a tiny percentage of that traffic. The issue is that these networks work well when only a few use them, and there is adequate capacity. Everyone is happy with uptime and speed. When more people sign up, and it is time to upgrade capacity for the network provider, either the company wants to save money, or there are possible technical limitations. Next up is another bait and switch in the form of rising prices for internet service. Are you worried about this trend? #nearthefire #internet #wireless #fiber
