We are thrilled to share our latest mini-documentary, now live on YouTube! This powerful video, created by journalist and videographer team Noel and Magdalena Rojo, brings our mission to life, capturing the spirit, growth, and evolution of Education and Hope over the past 25 years. Our commitment to providing quality education goes beyond the classroom. At Education and Hope, we take a holistic approach, ensuring that students receive nourishment for their hearts, minds, and bodies in a supportive, family-centered environment. Our community center is a place of refuge and belonging, where empathy and compassion drive every aspect of our outreach. Since returning to in-person services in June 2022, we have seen a surge in community needs—and we’ve responded by expanding the scope and depth of our services. This video shines a light on our work, showing how Education and Hope has risen to meet these growing needs and the impact we’re making every day. It also highlights the ongoing support we need to sustain this vital work. We invite you to watch, share, and reflect on the story we’re telling together. Thank you for taking the time to connect with our mission! #NonprofitFunding, #GrantsForGood, #SocialImpactGrants, #GrantOpportunities, #FundingForChange, #HolisticSupport, #EmpowerThroughFunding, #TransformingCommunities, #EducationAndHope, #25YearsOfImpact, #EmpowerThroughEducation, #TransformingLives, #SupportGuatemala, #NourishMindsHearts, #CommunityOfHope, #InspiringYouth, #TogetherForEducation, #EducationForAll, #BuildingBrighterFutures, #HopeInAction

At our Civics Learning Project board meeting tonight, we spotlighted our "Civil Discourse and Community Discussions" program. This program provides #educators around Oregon with resources and tools to foster respectful dialogue and critical thinking for #students. CLP does this work because we've heard from students and teachers about the anxiety they feel about the #election and current #policy issues and how difficult and stressful it is to talk to each other in our current climate. This work is so cool and so impactful because it teaches students how to engage meaningfully with each other, develop more nuanced positions that take into account different perspectives and points of view, and will lead to stronger and more inclusive #communities that have a better shot at solving the challenges they will face. If this work matters to you or your organization, please consider supporting CLP!! If you want to talk more about how to partner with CLP, please reach out!

As an expert in space optimisation, we believe that spaces should be optimised not just in terms of size but also in utilisation. This means finding innovative ways to put spaces to good use, even during low-traffic periods. Noticing that the spacious lounge and dining areas at Coliwoo Boon Lay are underutilised on Saturday mornings, Coliwoo has initiated the idea of letting TOUCH Young Arrows utilise the space for academic coaching and enrichment activities for young beneficiaries from lower-income or single-parent families in the neighbourhood. For the past few months, this arrangement has provided a conducive environment for these young individuals, enabling them to focus better during academic coaching and participate in enriching activities safely and comfortably. This initiative wouldn’t be possible without the warm support and understanding of our Coliwoo members and our operations team. We’re truly grateful for your willingness to be a part of this meaningful community effort, sharing the spaces with those in need. 📖 Read more about how LHN and Coliwoo incorporate the “social good” element into our spaces in The Business Times article by Lindsay Wong: https://lnkd.in/g7K9f4JU #Coliwoo #LHNGroup #SpaceOptimisation #GivingBack #SocialImpact #TheBusinessTimes
Read more about Coliwoo's community initiative on The Business Times here: https://lnkd.in/g7K9f4JU They say Christmas is a season of giving, but at Coliwoo and LHN Limited, we are committed to creating positive impact all year round through partnerships with NPOs such as TOUCH Community Services. Building upon our longstanding partnership with TOUCH, we kickstarted a weekend initiative where beneficiaries from Touch Young Arrows Boon Lay Club head to Coliwoo Boon Lay for academic coaching and cognitive development workshops, for better productivity and conduciveness. According to Darren Loh, Chief Strategy Officer for Coliwoo, this partnership brings about greater optimisation of both the spaces and potential of the children. Coliwoo remains dedicated to uplifting communities around us, and we will continuously find new opportunities and channels to give back to our society. #Coliwoo #Community #GivingBackToTheCommunity

September is Attendance Awareness Month! Although attendance is everyone's business everyday, September is the month we get to really celebrate just being present! We can't talk graduation without attendance, we can't advocate for high-dosage tutoring if students don't show up, we can't change challenging behaviors if students aren't present to see good behaviors modeled. What will you do to encourage school attendance with your platform? Ideas: Systems and schools - can promote an attendance awareness campaign. Elected officials - can sign proclamations declaring September as Attendance Awareness Month AND participate in attendance campaigns with their constituents. Business owners - can donate incentives and time to support attendance initiatives as well as post support of regular school attendance in their establishments. Community-based volunteer organizations - can volunteer to be attendance mentors. Encourage students and families with canvas walks, community events, and assisting schools with welcome back phone calls (let's be real, a personal welcome back is much more effective than a blanket robo call). I'll share more ideas as we get closer to September and also during the Louisiana Attendance Alliance CWA monthly call in August. #BeMindfulBePresent #ChronicAbsence > #Truancy #Attendance #Engagement #Partnership

THE POWER OF A SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP Part 1: Service and Volunteerism It’s evident that for students to thrive both academically and personally, a holistic approach to education is essential. This means schools and communities must work together, creating symbiotic relationships that benefit everyone involved. One of the most impactful ways this partnership can manifest is through community service and volunteerism. - Why Schools and Communities Need Each Other - When schools operate in isolation, they often miss out on the rich resources and opportunities that their communities can offer. Conversely, communities that don't engage with their local schools lose out on the fresh perspectives and youthful energy that students bring. Here’s one reason a collaborative approach is crucial: Community involvement provides students with real-world experiences that textbooks cannot offer. For instance, how are our children supposed to know that the pizza boxes in the pizza establishment they often visit don’t fold themselves; someone has to fold them? Through the Resilient Futures Initiative, we can ensure that students are not only academically prepared but also equipped with the skills and experiences necessary to make a positive impact on the world. Let's work together to make this vision a reality. To join the movement or to learn more, complete the form at the bottom of my webpage and I’ll add you to my list: https://lnkd.in/ggtDct-b * these AI-generated images are always interesting. 😁 #ResilientFutures #ResilientFuturesInitiative #AmyThurman #Service #Volunteerism

Namaskar Everyone, As we all know that education is the most important aspect in one's life, it is the most essential thing that one can attain in life. Volunteering is another aspect, which is greatly needed to create a holistic society. If both come together so it creates wonders. Following poem is written with the same feeling...... In fields of green where hope does grow, And hearts of youth with dreams do glow, A path unfolds, a journey new, Through hands that serve, the spirit too. In classrooms bright, and streets adorned, With knowledge shared and wisdom born, We give our time, our hearts, our all, To answer education's call. Through books and pens, and deeds of kind, We shape the world, expand the mind, For in the act of giving free, We learn, we teach, we come to be. In shelters warm, and places bare, Our presence speaks of love and care, A lesson here, a story there, Transforms the world through acts we share. For education's not confined To walls and halls, or clocks that bind, But in each gesture, each small deed, We sow the seeds of future's creed. So let us volunteer our might, In every shadow, bring the light, For through this work, both vast and small, We educate, we rise, we all. ....Sushil Mishra #educationforall #volunteering #bettertomorrow #senceoftogatherness #openmind #nationfirst #poetryforeducationandvolunteering

There’s no time like the present, and no present like the time.” —James Dunst No Present Like the Time Giving back to your community can be incredibly rewarding. Acts of service not only benefit those in need but also boost your own well-being. When you help others, you build stronger connections within your community, experience a sense of purpose, and cultivate empathy and compassion. This week, focus on EDLINK's® motto of "See good. Do better." Find a local organization and research local non-profits that align with your interests. Many have volunteer opportunities that fit different schedules and skill sets. See the good they are doing in your community and see how you can help to do better. Even small acts of service can have a significant impact. Whether it's volunteering at a local food bank, mentoring a child, or cleaning up a local park, your contributions can make a real difference in the lives of others and in your community as a whole.
