Low level of Patience at Airports
Much has been said about angry and agitated passengers at the airports. But this is not about them but rather the airport staff which includes ATC, CISF, Airline staff et all.
We have seen the 2 recent incidents involving CISF personnel involved in a brawl. But things also go on which do not come in public notice. Just a small example. The other day I landed late evening at a busy airport after multiple sectors and at the very limit of my duty time. The aircraft had to be repositioned to a different bay for the night so ATC was contacted. I was asked to standby for 30 min. On being told that I am at the limit of my duty time, the response was that you are on low priority. Anyways was permitted to reposition when it was informed that in that case the aircraft will have to be left overnight.
It is not about the reason but about the nature of response and the language. Somehow we as individuals have forgotten what decent language is and that it is possible to convey things in a more acceptable way.
More importantly it is that all at the airport have forgotten that in the end they are all service providers. In essence all are inter dependent. There Is no airport without aircraft or no aircraft without airlines or no airlines without passengers. Without all these passengers have no way of traveling by air. Even CISF deployed at airports are dependent on it as the airport operator is paying for them to The GOI. I am not absolving pilots also as sometimes our response leaves a lot to be desired.
There is no one at the airport inside or out be it the airport/Airline staff, CISF, ATC, pilots etc who are doing a flavour to anyone. And neither is anyone on a higher pedestal or subservient to another.
High time we all realise it. But again this will not come from within. Everyone needs to be educated and have some guidance and a mechanism of redressal. This will ensure that actual or perceived infringement does not escalate and in the worst case leads to physical altercation.

Proud to have been part of the team that made these! We tried to follow the same philosophy we use when designing real life checkpoints, such as including wheel chair accessibility and including a wide range of screening equipment options for several different manufacturers. Have to admit though that there is slightly less paperwork involved with a lego checkpoint.
