🌍 Exploring the World Through Volunteering: A Journey of Culture, Work, and Exchange 🌍 Did you know that there are options to travel and work out there? I’ve been fortunate enough to embark on some incredible adventures that combine my passion for travel with unique work experiences. For me, the best kind of travel involves more than just seeing new places, it’s about cultural immersion, meaningful exchanges, and working alongside locals. Through various volunteer opportunities, I’ve had the chance to exchange my skills for food, accommodation, and, most importantly, happiness. Each experience has been truly enriching: 🛌 Hotel - Puerto Varas, Chile (helping in the garden) 🏨 Hostel - Leuven, Belgium (making the beds) 🎿 Ski Station - Spindleruv Mlyn, Czech Republic (washing dishes on top of the mountain) Workaway and Worldpackers are two great options to search for cool adventures, they helped me to find out those trips. These one-month stints in different parts of the world gave me the opportunity to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, learn new skills, and experience local cultures up close. It’s been a journey of growth, both personally and professionally. Volunteering while traveling is not just about exploring new places, it’s about embracing new challenges and gaining unforgettable experiences along the way. Have you ever combined travel and volunteering? I'd love to hear about your experiences! 🌎 #TravelWithPurpose #Volunteering #CulturalExchange #WorkAndTravel #LifelongLearning #AdventureAwaits

The Expat coach | Helping Expats Thrive in Suisse Romande🇨🇭| Empower your journey with 1:1 coaching!
If you are currently living in Suisse Romande as an expat, chances are you will meet a ton of other interesting international folks through work or friends of friends. But let's be honest – that expat bubble can feel a little…well, temporary. Every few years, you'll have to restart from scratch when your “old friends” move on to new countries. It is therefore in your interest to meet local people, and one of the best places to do so is through volunteering. Here are some reasons why it rocks: #Reason1: you can meet countless fascinating people. Find folks who share your passions, whether it's helping animals at a shelter or tending a community garden or giving a helping hand at the biggest music festival in the region, Paleo. #Reason2: French immersion, on the house Practice your French in a natural setting, not a stuffy classroom. You can butcher pronunciation or grammar as you want, very likely it will be much easier accepted. #Reason3: Boost your resume (and Ego) Giving back looks fantastic on your CV and makes you feel like a total rock star. Win-win. #Reason 4: Create memories with local people living in your city or neighbourhood Having a fun day together doing something meaningful is genuinely the way to make friends. Still not convinced? No sweat! Finding volunteer gigs is easier than navigating a fondue fountain. Websites like "https://lnkd.in/eZAViU6v" connect you with organizations across Switzerland. Remember: Volunteering is a two-way street. You'll be giving your time and skills, but you'll also be walking away with unforgettable experiences and new friends. So take the plunge, find a cause you dig, and start making a real difference! And don't forget to have fun along the way. #SwissLife #ExpatAdventures #VolunteerHero #GiveBack #LocalLove #SwissCulture #LanguageLearning #NewFriends #MakeADifference

7 reasons why you should consider volunteering as an expat / international: Ryanne: ‘Martijn, I signed us up for this volunteering gig.’ Me: ‘Ok.’ Before I knew it, I was on the back of a truck with opera singers and loud opera music, driving through Copenhagen, promoting and supporting the Copenhagen Opera Festival at different spots. This experience got me thinking about the many benefits of volunteering as an expat. Here are seven key reasons why you should consider it: 1. Community Integration Cultural Immersion: Volunteering allows expats to immerse themselves in the local culture and understand the nuances of their new environment. Building Social Networks: It provides opportunities to meet locals and other expats, helping to establish a support system and build friendships. 2. Skill Development and Experience Professional Growth: Volunteering can help expats develop new skills or maintain existing ones, which is especially valuable if they are not working in their field or are between jobs. Local Experience: It can provide experience in the local job market, which may be helpful if you’re seeking paid employment. 3. Language Practice Language Acquisition: For expats in non-English-speaking countries, volunteering is an excellent way to practice and improve language skills in a real-world setting. 4. Giving Back Community Contribution: Volunteering is a way for expats to give back to the community that is hosting them, which can be fulfilling and help create a sense of belonging. Positive Impact: Contributing to local causes can have a meaningful impact, both for the community and for the expat, who gains a sense of purpose. 5. Ease of Adaptation Easing Culture Shock: By engaging with locals through volunteer work, expats may find it easier to adjust to the cultural differences and reduce feelings of isolation or homesickness. 6. Enhanced Resumé International Experience: Volunteering can add valuable international experience to an expat’s resumé, which can be attractive to future employers. 7. Personal Fulfillment Sense of Accomplishment: The act of helping others can bring a sense of accomplishment and personal fulfillment, making the expat experience even more rewarding. 👉 Have you done any volunteering work in the host country you live?
