𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 LBBW? 🤔 In Venture Clienting, a certain ratio of pushing forward with the latest technological advancements and pulling in the solutions needed to address internal challenges is crucial. In my last post, we discussed this "PUSH/PULL" dilemma. At LBBW, our primary focus is to cater to the needs of our colleagues and the organization at large, leading us to adopt a "PULL FIRST" strategy. ➡️ This is how we keep the pipeline of innovative ideas flowing: 🌟 Awareness sessions: During interactive workshops we stimulate interest in Venture Clienting by highlighting to our colleagues how important it is to identify their work-related challenges - and by showing them how a collaboration with selected startups offers efficient pathways to innovative solutions that create measurable Business Impact. Through calls to action, we encourage them to come forward with the issues they face, providing a structured format for submission. We work with clear deadlines, ensuring a sense of urgency in sharing these challenges. 🔗 Building a strong network: This aspect goes beyond merely attending networking events and is more about deliberately engaging with LBBW colleagues and actively listening to their needs. Our standardized method for collecting challenges ensures that many voices within LBBW are being heard. Our awesome network of LBBW Venture Clienting ambassadors, who we love to call “innovation champions”, forward highly qualified leads in our direction. 💻 Generic lead flow via idea management platform: LBBW's idea management team has been operating a comprehensive idea management platform for several years, which our colleagues can use to submit exciting suggestions for improvement. We are in close dialogue with the idea management team and can access generic lead flow for venture clienting via their platform. 💡 "Your problem is our problem!" / "Deine Probleme hätten wir gerne! 😉": This motto highlights our commitment to being the go-to problem solvers at LBBW, welcoming the difficulties our colleagues encounter in their daily work. This motto solidifies our role as a catalyst for change within LBBW to strengthen our competitiveness in the longrun. 📚 Problem backlog: Every challenge submitted is a potential opportunity for innovation. Our problem backlog becomes a treasure trove of ideas, each waiting for the right technological solution or innovative approach to unlock its potential. What's your take? 💭... Zypsy's new venture investment program, offering $100K worth of design services in exchange for 1% equity, presents an intriguing model for both the design firm and the startups. Zypsy is leveraging its design expertise as a critical asset in helping early-stage startups enhance their brand and product offerings, essential to a startup's early success. Pros of Zypsy’s Strategy: → For cash-strapped startups, receiving high-caliber design services in exchange for equity provides immediate value without upfront costs. This allows these startups to allocate scarce resources to other critical areas of development. → By accepting equity in exchange for services, Zypsy aligns its interests with the startups it serves. Success for the startups translates into success for Zypsy, potentially increasing the quality and dedication behind the services provided. → Zypsy’s roots in reputable firms and its successful track record can provide startup service and credibility. For a new company, being associated with a name with a legacy in design and technology can be a significant boost. Cons of the Strategy: → While trading equity for services saves money upfront, it can be costly if a startup succeeds in the long run. Startups must weigh the potential future value of their equity against the immediate benefits of professional design services. → The program caps services at a certain point, after which startups must pay cash. This could pose challenges if the initial design needs are underestimated, leading to unforeseen expenses. → The program's selective nature might limit its availability to a broader range of startups that could benefit from such services. Focusing on specific industries may exclude other sectors where design is a critical differentiator. Zypsy’s program makes sense on multiple levels, especially in how it offers substantial non-monetary value to startups, helping them refine their brand and product experiences without initial cash outlay. This can be particularly advantageous for startups at an early stage, where cash flow is a critical concern. But, startups should carefully consider the long-term implications of giving away equity and ensure that the value received aligns with the potential future value of the shares given. This strategy bolsters Zypsy's portfolio and places it at the heart of innovation, driving the brand and product strategies of tomorrow’s leading companies. https://lnkd.in/dHWU_wDZ #thenakedbrand #startups #equity

A Founder’s Truth is Their Personal Brand Every founder must tell their story. But here’s the catch - • They should only have to tell it once—if it’s captured authentically and powerfully enough to stand on its own. • They deserve to focus on their strengths, not waste energy masking weaknesses that society or systems refuse to accommodate. The Problem with Startup Ecosystems: Startup ecosystems claim to empower founders but often force them into ill-fitting molds. These systems were designed for scalability, not relevance. They reward conformity, not authenticity. The Solution: Startup ecosystems need a shake-down. Support systems must be redesigned to: 1. Deliver relevant, individualized support that meets founders where they are. 2. Stop prioritizing optics and metrics over real outcomes. To Startup Regions - Your motives are showing. If you truly want innovation, show up authentically for the people driving it. The Status Quo Isn’t Working—It Never Did The generalized scale in startup building wasn’t always the mandate for access to execution. This shift has turned creativity into conformity, passion into protocol, and founders into performers for metrics that don’t serve their long-term success. And the biggest joke of all? The “derisking” mindsets and activities by venture capital. There is ZERO credible research or evidence to support the claim that this industry’s status quo produces superior socioeconomic outcomes. It’s a game of optics, not impact. Even women-driven funding efforts—meant to challenge this system—are just copy-pasting what already exists. They perpetuate the same flawed templates, failing to create anything truly transformative. Why I Speak Out: My whole life, I was convinced by society that I was the only one who could see the obvious, and over time, it silenced me. I became mute because no one wanted to hear what was broken—or worse, no one wanted to work hard enough to fix it. But I can’t stay silent anymore. I have two young adults entering college, and the systems they’re walking into don’t offer them better futures. It’s time to speak up. Not just for them but for every future builder, thinker, and founder trapped by a world that prioritizes playing along with broken and unsustainable systems over solutions. The startup ecosystem needs a total redesign. The gap isn’t in knowledge; it’s in action. We’ve amassed enough data, research, and lived experiences to identify systemic issues and workable solutions. The real challenge lies in bridging the disconnect between those solutions and the decision-makers who hold the power to implement them. The impasse isn’t just about ignorance—it’s about willpower, priorities, and resistance to change. Many of the people in those positions prefer to maintain the status quo, avoiding the hard, uncomfortable work required to execute meaningful transformation. They fear disrupting systems that benefit them or that they don’t fully understand.

You have to be 100% in on your startup if you want to achieve success…right? This week I spent two full days with the MMU and Growth Hub team Chris Taylor, Claire Pattison, Jennie Shorley, Lisa and Kadja, focusing on Innovation within Habeo and it was incredible. In a room of 20+ people for two full days we got insights, feedback, guidance and advice on our innovation and some new MVP registrations too! For me the most important thing was validation after working on this idea for 3 years it was good to speak to a group of target customers and see that they got it. It’s also hugely helpful to be granted time and access to the expertise of peers alongside the MMU team to focus on where we go next with Habeo. Met some inspirational people that I already see as friends too. Despite this focus I do have another business which I’m not yet able to fully walk away from. It just so happens to be undergoing its own transformation in innovation with a new website and app development project about to kick off, so the other three days of my working week were largely spent on speaking to partners and finalising plans. I can’t be 100% in my start up yet, but that isn’t a bad thing. Especially as the role I now play in Make Ur Move is removed from day to day operations. There is a synergy between the work I’m doing across both and I’m often speaking to potential providers, partners and even competitors that can play a part in either of the businesses so it is not lost time. The stage you are at with your start up will usually dictate what commitment you need - so too would investors and your clients. Do you need to be 100% in from the beginning though? What are your thoughts. Join the discussion and share where you are up to and whether you have additional business commitments. …………………………………………………………………………. Innovation Retreat has more cohorts coming up so get in touch with Nicola Palin if you want to explore your idea, start up, innovation. You will not regret it! Ps I have to shoehorn in that I succumbed to the marketing powers of Remarkable recently after following this product for over 2 years. 3 weeks and it has changed my life. I’m super organised, I never lose any of my scribbles, notes and ideas are all filed and tagged so I can search them later and I can share them all with anyone by email instantly! *this is not a promotional post 😉 #startups #founders #organisation #innovation

As an early-stage startup, navigating the ever-evolving business landscape demands a keen understanding of the external forces that shape your venture's trajectory. A strong grasp of the external environment is crucial for mitigating risks and seizing opportunities amidst the often-uncertain world of entrepreneurship. PESTLE analysis emerges as a powerful framework for startups, providing a structured approach to evaluating the Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, and Environmental factors that can impact their growth and success. Political Factors: Understanding the political climate, government policies, and regulatory frameworks is crucial for startups. Changes in tax laws, trade policies, or political instability can significantly influence your operations and market strategies. Economic Factors: Economic indicators, such as GDP growth, inflation rates, and consumer spending patterns, can directly affect your startup's financial performance and market demand. Monitoring these factors can help you make informed decisions about pricing, resource allocation, and expansion plans. Social Factors: Consumer behavior, cultural trends, and demographic shifts can shape the demand for your products or services. By analyzing social factors, you can tailor your offerings to meet evolving customer needs and preferences. Technological Factors: In today's fast-paced digital age, technological advancements can either propel your startup forward or render it obsolete. Keeping a pulse on emerging technologies, innovation trends, and digital disruptions is essential for maintaining a competitive edge. Legal Factors: Complying with relevant laws and regulations, such as intellectual property rights, consumer protection laws, and employment legislation, is paramount for startups. Failure to adhere to legal requirements can result in costly penalties and reputational damage. Environmental Factors: As sustainability becomes a global priority, startups must consider their environmental impact and align their operations with eco-friendly practices. This not only demonstrates social responsibility but also caters to the growing demand for sustainable products and services. By conducting a comprehensive PESTLE analysis, startups can develop a holistic understanding of their operating environment. Moreover, the strategic approach enables them to identify potential challenges and opportunities, and formulate strategies that position them for success. At Turbostart, we understand the importance of equipping startups with the tools and insights they need to thrive. We are committed to helping tech-based, early-stage startups decode the entrepreneurial landscape and propel them towards success.
