It was a week of watching interviews with Sam Altman and Mark Zuckerberg. Here are some notes and thoughts: - In the future, we’ll likely all be using 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀, which will forever change our concept of reality. My great-grandchildren might grow up with mixed reality as their norm. Personally, I prefer glasses or lenses - you can always take them off. - What happens when everyone starts using implants or lenses? Will you feel pressured to do the same? I can't think of anyone in my social circle who doesn’t have a smartphone, so I suspect the global marketing machine will ensure people don’t hesitate. - Sooner or later, just as the web modernized businesses and government services, we’ll reach a point where 𝗔𝗜-𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 become a reality. - One way to control this AI might be to give each citizen a share of it, which could even become a sort of future currency. - The age-old question of who controls the media, and how, will become even more critical with development of AI and such “lenses”. 𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁: Meta has a "Community Defense" department with a budget of 5 billion dollars a year. - We're responsible for what we consume and how we spend our time. As things change, 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 will be more important than ever. With no shortage of bad news online, it's up to us to manage our emotions and how our days unfold. No company is ultimately responsible for our success or balance in our lives. - The future looks exciting, and Moore’s law is clearly in full swing. If you’ve got some free time, I recommend checking these out: https://lnkd.in/diJ4vFQt and https://lnkd.in/dTDbEF4J --- 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁: books can’t keep up with the pace of technology anymore, so watching entrepreneurs in interviews can be more insightful. --- 🏜️Tip: I usually listen to podcasts at the gym #Future #TechLeaders #Innovation

Thrilled to share that Megan La Grave delivered an inspiring keynote at the American Advertising Federation today on the transformative power of flow states. Over the past few weeks, I've watched (and been inspired) as Megan developed and evolved her fascinating thesis at the intersection of flow states and AI. Her talk today wasn’t just informative—it was a roadmap to leveraging what is profoundly a human condition, enhanced and made more accessible through technology. Here's what I find fascinating in her POV: Flow, as she describes, is an optimal state of consciousness where creativity meets peak performance, and entirely and uniquely human condition which captures the essence of our human spark, something AI can never replicate - yet our ability to access it is exponentially empowered by technological advancements including AI. This is powerful - Because flow isn’t just about working smarter—it’s about living in the moment, fully and deeply. These strategies promise not just a 500% boost in productivity and a 490% increase in learning rates, as backed by research from McKinsey & Co. and DARPA, but also a richer quality of life: heightened satisfaction, reduced anxiety, and a profound sense of well-being. A big thank you to Megan for leading the way with such clarity and vision. Proud and excited to see where her thought leadership takes us next! #FlowState #Productivity #Wellbeing #Leadership #Innovation #AIEnhancedLiving

The very fabric and foundations of workplace technology under our feet are changing... In Jan of this year, I mentioned on a partner podcast that the agents were coming. We're now seeing how every single API call, every system-to-system and human-to-system interaction can be enriched with AI. It can be done at the code-level, no-code level, and now within the very tools we have on our desktops. Just take a look at this video (2m51s) from Paradigm... it totally reimagines our place, our processes, our productivity, and how we approach current data paradigms: https://lnkd.in/ee8QX-nu With reasoning engines and agentic workflows, we're accelerating away from a "college grad in a chat box" to something quite different. Would love to learn what others are sensing and seeing out there.

Pioneering AI-driven strategic design - I help purposeful organisations develop more innovative and stronger strategies with AI | Founder @ Mountain Moving Co.
We all know video can be an incredibly compelling medium. Now, with the power of Gen-AI, foresight scenarios can be brought to life in ways never before possible. Considering multiple alternatives futures is so much easier when you have a visual story to anchor them to - and this is the essence of strategic foresight, and the superpower that organisations need to navigate disruption. These videos invite dialogue, debate, and lift strategic discussions out of the weeds. But most importantly these videos bring to life a set of scenarios that were developed by the client - the discoveries they made in this journey are where the real value is. If you want talk more about these videos or how strategic foresight can help you, click the link "visit my website" above or send me a DM. (𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟳: 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀) 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭 - 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗜 𝗨𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮 🚀 The final talk of the day at Collision Conference was an enlightening session featuring Vinod Khosla from Khosla Ventures and Connie Loizos, Editor-in-chief at TechCrunch. 🌟 While the content of their discussion was highly insightful, what truly stood out to me were the following observations: - 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: Vinod Khosla’s confidence was remarkable. It transcended the typical social media fame seen in celebrities and social media stars. This was a kind of authentic, deeply-rooted confidence that comes from profound knowledge and experience. - 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗼𝗿: The humor in their conversation was natural and unforced. It added a layer of relatability and ease to the discussion, making complex topics more accessible. - 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄: Connie Loizos exemplified excellent interviewing skills. Her questions were direct and to the point, avoiding any sugarcoating. This approach ensured that the conversation remained engaging and insightful, providing clear and honest insights without feeling contrived. This session was a powerful example of how talks should done—flowing naturally, with questions that feel integral to the conversation rather than forced. Reflecting on the idea of an AI Utopia, I realized the importance of achieving a psychological utopia first. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. Before we can reach technological utopia, we need to cultivate a mindset that embraces growth, innovation, and positive change. 🧠✨ #CollisionConf #Toronto2024 #AIUtopia #TechInnovation #Leadership #InterviewSkills #TechCommunity #MindsetMatters #GrowthMindset

Let's talk Task Switching for a moment... While it's often considered a skill, I've come to view it as a potential hindrance to productivity. In the midst of my fast-paced schedule, crucial tasks often pop into my mind at the most inconvenient moments—typically when I'm engrossed in completing an entirely different task. In the past, this led to a chaotic cycle of jumping around, leaving me with half-completed tasks and partially finished deliverables. Enter Xena, my productivity ally. Now, when a task comes to mind in the midst of another, I simply open my Slack thread with Xena and jot down a quick note like "Remind me to... BLAH BLAH BRAIN DUMP." This allows me to continue my current task with the confidence that I can revisit that thought when it best suits me. What's more, if I happen to forget (which, let's be honest, occurs more often than not), Xena has already added the reminder to both my task list and calendar, providing a visual cue for quick, easy, and accountable follow-through. Here's to staying on track without missing a beat! 🚀 #ProductivityHacks #TaskManagement #XenaBoost

Thank you Expleo Group for sharing ‘The Phoenix and The Unicorn’ by Peter Hinssen following the From Hype to Reality: AI & Hyperautomation Summit 2024. First published in January 2020, Hinssen’s teachings were practical for high-growth start-ups and fully established organisations navigating the pandemic. Today, the same lessons in adaptability can be applied to the challenge of keeping pace with the rapidly evolving Fourth Industrial Revolution. If you're not up for reading the whole book, Barry Kibrick's podcast is a great listen. Addressed in the opening dialogue is the need to internally apply the theory of the Phoenix (continual reinvention). Transferring accountability by assuming it is only the ‘business’ that must adapt will have limited results. Arguably, a business is the reflection of the energy its people invest at both individual and collective levels - a theory supported by the football match metaphor c. minute 40. 'Spark your inner Phoenix' with Hinssen's 10 question parting gift: 1. Do you know what your new normals are? - What is your technological foundation? 2. Is your bottom heavier than it should be? - How much are you investing in the sense and try vs. scale and run? 3. How are your reinventing yourself? - Reinvent across products / markets / services / business model 4. What's your "offer you can't refuse"? - Are you really listening to your customers? 5. Are you Batman or Robin? - Be the platform or partner with the platform. 6. What do you smell like? - Culturally is the type of company where you would like your children to work? 7. Do you know what you're doing? - It's okay for innovators not to know what they're doing, that's the process of experimentation. 8. But are you experienced (at learning)? - How are you helping your employees to redefine their knowledge, experience, and skills? 9. Safety first, or last? - Do your people feel safe enough to experiment? 10. Where's the love? - How are you keeping alive passion, purpose and motivation?

How could talking about the future(s) benefit you (and your team)? For the past month we’ve been having weekly (structured) conversations about trends and tendencies at Mangrove. We wanted to explore how current tendencies (from various angles in: society, technology, environment, economics, politics and human values) could influence the early stage startups ecosystem in the next 5 years in Europe. The goal wasn’t to predict the future but rather to slow down and hear each other how we see those tendencies shaping the market, what are the risks and possibilities we see. In the last session I asked the team what does this bring them and whether they’d like to continue. Everyone was really positive and wanted to see what are the next steps. Many said it’s a nice moment to have time to some intellectual work together and get closer. I wrote down a few sentences that really show the value of such exercises: „It’s a way to share assumptions, convictions and beliefs.” by Slawek Walczak I’d add that being aware of your team’s beliefs, but also biases might make it happen to do strategic projects together that push the organization forward. Sławek also added that it’s „A framework to make decisions with a common future vision. A tool that helps us today, now”. And I have nothing to add here, I totally agree. Marta Borkowska added „It might lower anxiety on the team.” This might not sound like a big thing, but for me, it’s crucial at this moment. We hear so much news about how AI will be taking our jobs (Sam Altman recently said that AI will be able to do 95% of the marketing jobs); whether you believe it or not, this narrative is all around us. If you are in a team that’s scared or anxious, it’s a good thing to talk about those feelings because an anxious team is not really thinking about building, it's more focused on survival. Facing them can open the team up and make space to talk about possibilities that might lie ahead of us and how you can build towards them together. If you want to learn more or do such a process like with your team, send me a message, happy to discuss it.
