Dr. Pearson’s book, "The Supreme Awakening: Experiences of Enlightenment Throughout Time—and How You can Cultivate Them," offers us a glimpse into the lives of people who have recorded their experiences of higher states of consciousness, as conveyed to us through their poetry, prose, letters and biographies. The wonderfully unique feature of this book is that it documents the experiences of higher states of consciousness by dozens of people, spanning thousands of years, across all geographic regions, and in every culture. The conversation ranges from Wordsworth to William Blake, from Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj to Eugene O’Neill and Billie Jean King, as Pearson provides examples to reveal that the development of higher states of consciousness is not a fanciful philosophy, nor a mere metaphor or belief system, but is a natural, and indeed vital, progression of human evolution. As William James said, “Compared with what we ought to be, we are only half awake.”

📚 "To Kill a Mockingbird: A Timeless Classic That Challenges Conventions and Inspires Change!" 🕊️ *To Kill a Mockingbird* by Harper Lee is a profound and poignant novel that has left an indelible mark on literature and society. Set in the 1930s in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama, the story is narrated by young Scout Finch, who, along with her brother Jem, navigates the complexities of childhood against a backdrop of racial injustice and moral growth. At the heart of the narrative is Atticus Finch, their father and a principled lawyer, who defends a Black man, Tom Robinson, accused of raping a white woman. Through Scout’s innocent eyes, Lee masterfully explores themes of racism, empathy, and the loss of innocence, challenging readers to confront their own prejudices and moral compass. The novel's rich character development and evocative storytelling draw readers into a world that, while rooted in a specific time and place, resonates with timeless relevance. Atticus Finch's unwavering commitment to justice and integrity serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of standing up for what is right, even in the face of overwhelming opposition. *To Kill a Mockingbird* is not just a story about the past; it is a call to action for the present and future. This classic work continues to inspire generations, making it a must-read for anyone seeking to understand the complexities of human nature and society. #ToKillAMockingbird #HarperLee #ClassicLiterature #RacialInjustice #Empathy #BookReview #MustRead #LiteraryMasterpiece #MoralGrowth #TimelessThemes https://lnkd.in/g9XJaZ4A

There's been so much going on, that I can't believe I completely forgot to post that 'Story of Now: Let's Talk About the British Empire' has been longlisted for the Jhalak Prize! The Jhalak Prize was established to raise the profile of writers of colour. Each year it awards two annual prizes to books by writers of colour in UK in adult and children's writing. It disrupts publishing, celebrates great writing. Disruption is what it's all about. The book is a love letter to children and adults alike about the power of our stories, how the world came to be as it is, and how we can make better futures.
