Gus Gani, from O'Dell HVAC Group, collaborated with a design-build contractor to explore a solution to replace two existing packaged gas/DX makeup air units on a multi-residential high-rise building in Toronto, ON. These units serve to supply air to the building's corridors.
Valent and the manufacturer of the existing units on the building were considered contenders for this project. Two Valent DOAS VX-312 units were chosen for many reasons, making Valent the customer's preferred choice.
EFFICIENCY: Valent provided a more efficient option with modulating compressors for cooling, allowing lower energy consumption during partial load conditions.
ROBUST CONSTRUCTION: The competitor's units featured 1-inch single-wall construction, compared to Valent DOAS's 2-inch foam-injected double wall construction, which enhances the unit’s durability and longevity.
AFFORDABLE QUALITY: Even with Valent’s robust construction, the DOAS units weighed significantly less than the competitor’s. This weight advantage, especially in a high-rise building in a dense urban area, allowed the customer to use a smaller crane, resulting in substantial cost savings on the project.
This project was a success for Valent, O'Dell, and the customer. The customer upgraded their equipment with more efficient and robust units while reducing the project's overall cost. We appreciate O'Dell HVAC Group's partnership on this successful project and many others!
