Conceptual art at its best!
Is art a joke? I don't think it should be. The opportunity to create works of significance depends on funding artists capable of doing them. Yes, I know, many people will insist this is a significant work, but I believe other kinds of art can contribute far more to serious people. And given the state of the world, unless we are serious in our professional lives, we risk more and more chaos and inability to solve our problems. Which does not mean politics or environmental issues need literally be the subjects of our work. The culture sets the tone for how society operates.

1yHe did tell them honestly in the title what he was doing. This is the state of contemporary art. It is built on little more than the premise of an idea. This is what museums, critics, investors, and higher education fosters and this is what it gets. Funding art without craftsmanship is no different than an angel investor funding a startup. We reap what we sow and our cultures continue to dumb down, get uglier, and disconnect from humanity.
