Today is World Bicycle Day. Over the past few years, we’ve witnessed an incredible transformation in the world of cycling with the introduction of e-bikes. These bicycles have not only made cycling more accessible to a wider audience but have also revolutionized how we think about transportation, fitness, and environmental sustainability. I wish I'd had one to get to school on - these things are great! Most e-bikes can travel up to 20 mph without pedaling and up to 28 mph with pedaling assistance (unless you hack them, then all bets are off). According to recent studies, e-bike users ride more frequently and for longer distances than traditional bike users, making them a fantastic tool for promoting health and reducing our carbon footprint. One of the differences between US and European bikes is that apparently in Europe, you're not allowed to have a 'throttle' on an e-bike - a great shame. Whether it’s the thrill of a high-speed ride or the joy of a leisurely one, e-bikes offer something for everyone. They remind us that innovation and creativity can transform even the most familiar experiences into something extraordinary. The biggest barriers to cycling revealed! A recent National Travel Attitudes Study by the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom has revealed the key factors that would encourage people to cycle more. 📌 Safer roads were the most popular factor that would encourage people to cycle more, chosen by 61% of all respondents, followed by well-maintained road surfaces (51% of all respondents). 📌 Safety concerns were cited as the main reason people are discouraged from cycling (48% of respondents). It's clear that improving road safety is key to getting more people on bikes. Today is World Bicycle Day! And although we are active in the automotive sector, we always have points of contact with bicycles. When it comes to safety, we not only want to protect vehicle occupants, but also other road users outside the vehicle.
