Arizona Burn Center Director Dr. Kevin Foster today joined the Phoenix Fire Department in reminding residents to leave fireworks to the professionals. While the state may have legalized the sale of some fireworks, most fireworks are still illegal to set off in the city of Phoenix. The only fireworks that are OK are novelty fireworks like sparklers, but even those can be dangerous and lead to severe burns. “All of these injuries are preventable,” said Dr. Foster. “Just because these fireworks are legal does not mean they are safe. Anything that explodes or catches on fire is potentially dangerous to human beings.”

In Texas, it is generally illegal to discharge fireworks within city limits. Most cities in Texas have ordinances prohibiting the use of fireworks within their boundaries, and violators can face fines or other penalties. However, regulations on fireworks may vary by city, so it is essential to check local ordinances before using fireworks. It is worth noting that fireworks are allowed in unincorporated areas of the county, subject to specific regulations, and it is always important to follow safety guidelines when using fireworks.
