In this latest interview with VALR’s CEO Farzam Ehsani by DL News, Farzam shares more about VALR’s growth story in Africa and beyond. “VALR was established 6.5 years ago, during a time when there was minimal global crypto regulation. From the beginning, we did our best to adhere to high ethical standards, even in the absence of formal regulations. Now that regulatory frameworks are being developed, we are well-positioned to comply, having effectively self-regulated since our inception.”

A great overview by Miriam (Miz) Feiler who spoke with Yagub Zamanov for DeCential Media on AFSA’s approach to regulation of digital assets. It is an engaging read for those who want to know the timeline of AFSA’s and Kazakhstan’s work to develop a comprehensive digital ecosystem. From 2022-2023, a series of consultations and a pilot project with the commercial banks of Kazakhstan, as well as eight licensed international and local crypto exchanges licensed in the jurisdiction, culminated in the publication of the Digital Asset Activities rulebook. As Yagub Zamanov said: “Previously, we didn't have any rules related to stable coins or tokenization. So again, our approach was to test, see the results, and then introduce the regulation in close consultation with the market participants. So, our process is totally transparent, protecting the market and keeping market integrity.” https://lnkd.in/gBt2r3kf

Yesterday, South Africa’s Financial Sector Conduct Authority announced that it has granted crypto licenses to 75 institutions. The FSCA also added that the licenses do not include recognition of crypto assets as legal tender. This marks a significant milestone for South Africa, with Luno, Altcoin Trader, and VALR, among others, receiving a license. Over 350 service providers have applied for a license, and the FSCA has noted that applications are still being processed and approved. Authorised crypto service providers in South Africa open the door for greater retail and institutional investment market growth. This is another indicator of the wider acceptance of crypto assets as important investment options. You can find the full story here - https://lnkd.in/egPX5tAX
