While beauty remains a cornerstone of department store sales, increasing from 9% to 10% of total revenue between 2022 and 2023, the real story lies in how its product segments are evolving. ➡ Today's consumers seek more than "just" skincare and haircare products; they're looking for a holistic wellness experience. This transformation reflects a broader trend towards personalized, inclusive, and ethical products and services. Department stores are responding by reimagining their beauty sections as wellness destinations [like the new spaces at TRYANO department stores (Chalhoub Group) for instance]: 💄 The fragrance category, now representing 45% of beauty sales (up from 36% in 2022), is leading this charge. Niche brands like Creed, Maison Francis Kurkdjian, and BYREDO are driving growth, offering unique scents that align with consumers' desire for individuality and luxury experiences. 💄 Skincare, while seeing a decrease in market share, is evolving to meet new consumer expectations.
